Sorry, unfamiliar with the process, could you pls elaborate. Are you saying even if Romney wins in Maine, he won’t be awarded those delegates?

Are you all watching the LOVE FEAST with Osama on CNN??PUKEVILLE!! I want to know WHO THE hell is paying for this infomerical?? It’s there a law against FREE-AIR-TIME for just one candidate? It’s really steams me up!!

Interesting caucus article:
Gorham, Maine The Frigid weather didnt keep 72 Gorham Republicans from caucusing Friday. At the end of the evening, the tally was one for Giuliani, one undecided, two for Huckabee, nine for McCain, 11 for Paul, and 48 for Romney. Caucus goers were on a mission to find what they believed was the most conservative candidate. Scott Pratt, who planned on caucusing for Romney, called him a strong conservative and said that getting the budget back together was the most important issue to him.

The winner won’t officially get them, but you can place most of them in his column for the purpose of tallying to determine who’s ahead, if the fight is close enough that it actually came down to them they will vote for the person the Republicans in their state supported.

I will send an email and call for Mitt this weekend. That is the least that I can do. We MUST stop McCain.
Your tagline intrigues me. Where is Fred? I can’t understand how he could endorse McCain. I just heard on CNN that is what he will do after Super Tuesday.
Isn’t that just wonderful of CNN to let us all in on that secret?

It was updated to “As goes Maine, so goes Vermont” to illustrate how out of touch it was with the rest of the country. It just illustrated it again. No matter, the slimy liberal Romney can enjoy his final insignificant victory because he’s going to be crushed by the other RINO McCain. The only thing I’m going to enjoy for the rest of the election cycle since Conservatives have no one to vote for.

I heard that the previous Leftist DemocRAT Governor endorsed McCain today.
They think the fix is in - the ‘RATS want McCain baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
If that SOB gets the nomination it won’t be because we haven’t done our best to stop it.

And lest we forget that both RINO senators endorsed McCain. Here’s hoping McCain finishes last!

I don't know the exact process in Maine, so I can't say with any authority. In many caucus states, the popular vote for the candidate is a small part of the process. For instance, Iowa held caucuses that included a straw poll, and Mike Huckabee won that poll. However, no delegates to the national convention were selected that day. If they had been, then Iowa would have been penalized. Instead, the caucus elected delegates to a state convention. When the state convention delegates meet later in the year, they will select delegates to the national convention. While Mr. Huckabee didn't actually receive delegates at the Iowa caucus, we can reasonably assume that if he won the vote, his delegates to the state convention won as well. When they get to the state convention, they will vote for Huckabee delegates to the national convention. This process is in contrast to the Wyoming caucus where they selected delegates directly to the national convention and were penalized.
If the Maine caucus is non-binding, then Maine will not be penalized. Avoiding the penalty means not awarding any national convention delegates today. However, if Mr. Romney is winning a majority of the popular vote, then his delegate candidates to the Maine state convention are likely winning in their delegate races. If they win today, they will be in a position to control the state convention in May. If they control the state convention in May, they will be in a position to send Romney delegates to the national convention in late August/early September.
To summarize, I'm not saying that Mr. Romney won't be awarded the delegates. I am saying that he won't actually have those delegates picked with their credentials established for the convention until after the state convention.

I sent him an e-mail to that effect a couple of weeks ago. Methinks that Senate friends trumps country. I’m fed up with them all.

I beg for your forgiveness. I didn’t go to caucus because I figured McCain would win this state easily. With Snowe and Collins as our senators, and Collins a potential veep for McCain, I figured I’d sleep in and enjoy the morning. If McCain wins the state by a single vote, I am to blame. I will deserve the wrath of everyone here at free republic. I will need to go to church tomorrow, beg God for forgiveness. Perhaps I should be stoned or hit with ice-balls as I walk the streets of Lewiston.
