McCain's phone call to voters today, three days before the California Primary
McCain ^ | 2-2-08 | McCain

Posted on 02/02/2008 9:20:45 PM PST by doug from upland

Here is the message I heard this afternoon.

Hi, this is Senator John McCain. I'm calling today to personally ask for your vote and make a pledge to you. As your president, I promise to lead our nation and our party as a Ronald Reagan conservative. I'll lower your taxes, veto wasteful government spending, and ensure our party returns to the smaller government principles on which it began.

I'll secure our border first before pursuing any other immigration reform. I'll appoint conservative judges like justices Alito and Roberts. I will protect the sanctity of life; I have a 24-year record to prove it.

This is my commitment to you. As you go to the polls, consider our greatest challenge as a nation is to defeat a relentless enemy - the radical Islamist extremists. My life experiences prepared me better than any other candidate to defeat this enemy. We can and will win this war.

Again, this is John McCain and I humbly ask you to vote for me.

Paid for by John McCain 2008

if it is Hillary and McCain, I have to vote for him in November.

Like Dr. Dobson and Ann Coulter, I cannot and will not vote for McVain. I will find a conservative thrid party.

If she wins, the inevitable disaster from the liberal policies they will both pursue (no real difference) will fall on Dimmycraps and ther will most likely be a Republican Congress in 2010 and a Republican President in the Reagan mold in 2012. If he wins, the same policies leading to the same disaster will be the Republican's fault and their responsibility and it may kill the GOP once and for all.

My husband was yelling at someone about how he wouldn’t vote for McCain if he were the last person on earth.

My way of saying it is that if voting were mandatory and McCainwere the only name on teh ballot, I still wouldn't vote for him.

I don’t think McCain can get elected even if nominated. He just plain scares too many people.

If he is the nominee, ther will be a credible conservative thrid party candidacy to at least match the left-wing candidacies of Cynthia McKinney (Green) and Ralph (Harold Stassen) Nader (Independent or Something),m as well as Mikey Bloomberg.

Not defending McCain but Ginsberg was passed by the Senate 96 to 3. It is just what Republicans do to maintain the comity of the Senate just like Harry Reid and the U Boat Commander

McCain has been doing this every election for years here in Arizona. He pretends to be a good conservative just before an election then after the election he reverts to his favorite pastime of stabbinb us in the back. I just write myself in for whatever he happens to be running for if he’s on the ballot.

If she gets in, we will not have to worry about 2012. She is going to change the rules to ensure Dem dominance for decades. As she takes our money and gives it to others, they are dependent on the Dems and will vote for them. There will be more and more of those people getting our money and being on her plantation. By 2012, the Dems may well get 60% of the vote. Those who are dependent on government will outnumber the rest of us. That is what the Dems want and what Hillary wants. They do not play by any rules.

If all this was really his agenda, I would vote for the guy with no problem. But his past record does not go along with what this message talks about what he would do.

McCain introduces talk radio legislationThe Business Journal of Phoenix - by Mike Sunnucks The Business Journal

Arizona Sen. John McCain has introduced federal legislation to protect talk radio shows from the reinstatement of past rules that required dissenting voices be given equal time on their shows.

McCain and fellow GOP Senators John Thune of South Dakota and Norm Coleman of Minnesota have put forward legislation preventing the reinstatement of the ‘Fairness Doctrine’.

The Fairness Doctrine was done away with in 1987 but previously required political radio shows to offer equal time to opposing viewpoints as part of their Federal Communications Commission licenses.

A number of Democrats and liberal advocates want the Fairness Doctrine put back in place. They do not like the fact talk radio is dominated by conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Laura Ingraham.

McCain said imposing such rules would stifle free speech and there are plenty of political viewpoints in the marketplace.

Conservative radio talkers have criticized McCain for his stance in favor of immigration reform.

Isn’t McCain for embryonic stem cell research? (Since you think his vote for Ginsburg was hunky dory.) Point is, he is not squeaky clean from the pro life vantage point as you seem to think. Yes, he is for embryonic stem cell research. Figures. He might as well be a democrat. Read it and weep: http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/02/dont-let-john-m.html

Oops, I hung up after picking Romney. I thought that’s all they’d want to know. I’ll have to stay on the line if I get another.

I don’t disagree at all. I don’t like him. But I will walk on coals to try to keep Hillary out of the White House.

Well, I for one and a supporter, plan to hold him to his pledges of fighting Al Qaeda to the death, permanent tax cuts, secure border fence and opposing the raging spending by Washington. And, if he lives up to them, I am going to count him as a conservative and a great president.

I don’t think people who envision a Reagan rising form the ashes to a sweeping election in 2012 realize the implications of allowing someone like Clinton back in the Whitehouse. The democrats will never allow themselves to be out of power again.

Ditto. I think some people are in denial about what she is capable of doing. Look what her husband did. He made no real price but a little embarrassment.

Okay, but I was just pointing out a factual error. It speaks to my point. We will be able to fight him. We will have no weapons against Hillary.
