American Life League: Do Not Remove Lauren’s Feeding Tube

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Judie Brown, president of American Life League, released the following statement concerning an order by Delaware Court of Chancery Master Sam Glasscockon to give guardianship of Lauren Richardson to her mother, who wants to remove Lauren's feeding tube.

Lauren is 23 years of age and, due to a heroin overdose, is now in a persistent vegetative state. At the time of the overdose, Lauren was expecting the birth of her baby and reports indicate that she was kept alive to allow her to give birth, which she did in February of last year. Her daughter is now about to celebrate her first birthday, but Lauren may never have another birthday.

Of interest is the fact that, during the pregnancy, Lauren relied on feeding tubes and a breathing machine to keep her alive. Today Lauren has a feeding tube only. But there is a struggle going on regarding whether or not Lauren will live or die.

Lauren's case is more than a sad commentary on the plight of a family battling over what each of the opponents believes would be in her best interest. Her story is a testimony to the growing philosophy in this country that some, because of their condition, are better off dead than alive.

Like Terri Schiavo before her, Lauren is not dying nor is she in a terminal condition. She has been diagnosed as someone in a persistent vegetative state, someone who is very much alive but locked in her body and unable to express her desires to anyone. The only thing Lauren is relying on is a feeding tube without which she will starve to death. Lauren's mother, who is Laurens guardian, wants the feeding tube removed while Lauren's father is fighting to keep Lauren alive.

This family is in our prayers. We hope that, in the interest of respecting Lauren's dignity as a human being whose future improvement or lack thereof is known only to God, the court will listen carefully to those who argue in favor of Lauren's right to life. It is a tragedy beyond description when any human beings fate rests solely on the subjective opinion of others, some of whom truly believe that patients like Lauren have no quality of life and therefore are better off dead.

My two cents worth...

As we recall now, she was trying to get away from him and he even monitored the odometer on the car to keep tabs on her, those eighteen years ago. That night, with evidence enough to establish a crime scene, she showed indication of getting the stuffing beat out of her, later ratified by bone scans. Yet she was on her way to recovery a year later, doing fairly well, when hubby got the cash from suing the medical facility and proceed with his quest to silence her for good. Being tough, she survived anyway and even survived the complicit State sponsored execution by lasting thirteen days of dehydration. She screamed when they told her they were pulling out her nourishment, and still lasted that long.

None of this has been refuted. So much for us being a country of laws. It was interpretation of those “laws” by a vile judge, rubber stamped by a judicial system that allowed this atrocity. Me, I hold God’s Laws higher than those of evil men, but hey, that’s how I am although some, like our departed trolls prefer to believe in men as gods. I am grateful to have a forum like FreeRepublic pro-life as we are. In our estimation all life is precious and priceless as it is a gift from God, not man. We are small indeed if we put a material value on human life.

BTW, I notice when serial killers are probed, they often respond with the very first thought, “She deserved it. It wasn’t my fault, she tempted me.” It is a pattern.

Do you mean by marrying a murderer?

Yep. I guess it really was Terri's fault. Same with Nicole Brown Simpson (divorcing a psychopath doesn't make it any less the victim's fault) and Laci Peterson.

Any thoughts as to when their apologists give the same reasons?

Following the laws as interpreted by the Courts that Terry chose to have interpret them. Yes, by default, but that is our system of laws.

Okay, now you are saying that it's Terri's FAULT that federal and Florida law apply to her case? She somehow CHOSE this.

The Constitution of the United States of America states very clearly in Amendments Five and Six that for a person to be put to death there MUST be a grand jury indictment AND the person MUST be convicted by a jury. NO JUDGE has the power to put ANYBODY to death without these.

So, please provide links regarding Terri's indictment and jury trial. YOU speak of our system of laws and YOU claim that the law was followed, NOW PROVE IT.

Is it moral to ignore the law?

Yes, it can be. However, the ONLY ones who ignored the law in Terri's case are her killers and those who supported them and people like you who still argue in the validity of illegal and unconstitutional court rulings (though in all fairness, this might better be termed "ignorance" and not "ignoring").

Unfortunately, as with a lot of people, she allowed herself to get in a postion where her own death was the most likely outcome.

So, yes, you most certainly implied that Terri should be "saddled" with the outcome.

So you're the one here on FR who is always saying 'She asked for it!'

As in; A women dressed provocatively walks down the street in seedy part of town. Gets raped. WB "She asked for it".

NO, YOU SAID IT.

Right here:

YOU SAID:

“Unfortunately, as with a lot of people, she allowed herself to get in a postion where her own death was the most likely outcome.”

And then, in your haze, you mis-translated that into ‘she asked for it’.

You are unable to move your points forward on their own merits, and are reduced to purposely misrepresenting what others say.

In less polite company that’s called lying.

BTW what WAS your reponse to my question in post 175?

I didn’t “mistranslate” ANYTHING, I cut and pasted what you said.

As far as 175, I’m not responding to your straw man positions. Money IS NOT a factor in this case, you are trying to make it one.

I was wondering how far your “Life is Priceless” bit extended.

Have you never paid Medicare/Medicaid taxes? Do you not feel that you are entitled to money that YOU paid in?

I've got a question for you, my family is very wealthy, if I needed medical treatment money wouldn't even be an issue (not to mention that I have excellent health insurance, and disability insurance, and long-term care insurance), so why do you believe that my life is worth more than your life? I don't think my life is worth more than yours, I'm certain God doesn't think my life is worth more than yours, help me understand why you don't feel the same way.

I SAW Lauren on tv. She wasn't even bedridden. She was upright, awake and in her wheelchair, she wasn't even confined to one place.

Pope Benedict lost a disabled cousin to the Nazi's. Are we no better than the Third Reich?

ARE WE NO BETTER THAN HITLER'S GERMANY???????

These people were and are not brain dead. They are not terminal. The disabled are being put down like dogs. Tt’s a crime. So, what if they have a feeding tube? Many children have feeding tubes and babies. Should they be put down like dogs too? If so, here’s the exterminator:

ARE WE NO BETTER THAN HITLER'S GERMANY??????? Of course the answer is much more subtle than that ... the same evil at the heart of Nazi rule is at the heart of the death cultist trying to off the innocent. Satan never rests for his time is growing short, and he wishes to drag as many into Hell's torments with him as he can, to spit in God's face. So those doing these evils are spitting in God's face of Grace, in service to the evil spirit of the age.

And this is the video that the culture of death doesn't want ANYBODY to see.

lack of specifics re: Terri? Lack of Judge Greer allowing evidence favorable to Terri into his kangaroo court and remember TERRI SCHIAVO was never represented by counsel. The attys were her family's.

She was DENIED DUE PROCESS AND THEN MURDERED BY THE JUDICIARY.

Did you ever see my Nazi Florida sign? That was for the 2003 Vigil. I saved it here somwhere. I also have a sign I picked off the ground after they kiled Terri. "Nineteen STUPID judges want to kill Terri." (something like that). They weren't stupid. They were Greer and Whittemore's lackeys.

Terri got a perm for $80.00. Shame on her. She deserved to have her larynx crushed from behind by a future male nurse.... (sarcasm tag)
