Romney Stumps In Nashville Landmark

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney greeted diners and ate breakfast at Nashville's landmark Pancake Pantry Monday morning.

The former governor of Massachusetts told supporters he will win Tennessee, where one of the nation's 24 caucuses and presidential primaries take place Tuesday.

"We want Mitt," supporters shouted repeatedly during his address.

Many conservative Tennesseans are now with Romney after Tennessee senator Fred Thompson left the race.

"I need to make sure we get Tennessee, Fred Thompson Country to come out and help me," Romney said.

On the hunt to keep those voters, Romney told the crowd he believes he's the only true conservative candidate left in the race.

"Conservatives have come together and they've said you know what, we don't want Senator McCain. We want a conservative to be in the White House," Romney said.

He told supporters Washington is fundamentally broken and he's the change needed to fix it.

"They haven't gotten the job done," he said before listing different issues including Social Security "balancing the budget and ending the pork barrel spending that has been such a plague to the economy."

He also said a boost in the economy is needed.

To possible undecided voters in the crowd, Romney said, "Hey guys, how ya doing?"

This drew applause.

He hopes to attract these voters into his camp.

"Do you want a nominee who puts a 50-cent charge on gasoline?" he asked

"No," shouted people in the crowd.

With Tennessee voters going to the polls Tuesday, Romney will soon know whether the campaign stop served him well.

He also went to a rally in Atlanta Monday afternoon. He planned on going to California, which he calls "the key to his success."

No wonder I’ve been smelling the stench of sulphur wafting from downtown today.

This story wasn’t even on WSMV’s website at 5pm tonight. I will vote for Mitt tomorrow in TN also. You have heard of the stop Hillary Express, I’m trying to steam up the stop McCain Express by calling my conservative friends in East and Middle TN. Go Mitt go!

She’s talking about the Pancake Pantry. There’s always a long line to get in the joint.
