We need to face the fact that Romney is not showing himself to be competitive with McCain. For all of his bucks, he is not getting a big bang.

It seems the more the neo-con bloggers and talk radio gurus condemn McCain and Huckabee and try to build-up Romney, Romney does more poorly.

Huckabee can be dismissed by some as a regional candidate or one who appeals to a single block of voters (social conservatives), but this would only make him more attractive as a VP for a perceived moderate like McCain.

The bottom line is that McCain is in the driver’s seat and one must be imaginative to see reasons for his bus to get derailed to the nomination.

Yup...this has liberal fingerprints all over it.

I prefer to use the word "stench" when referring to the current situation....

Possibly the worst stench of all in this whole affair is Lindsey Grahmnesty waiting in between McCain's butt cheeks for the VEEP nod......

Excuse me while I go throw up.....

If Romney is going to drop out, this is a smart move. Lay off some staff and start paying back the loans he made to his campaign from his personal fortune. All future contributions should go directly into Romney’s pocket.

Totally agree this is a ‘’pump and dump’’ strategy by the propaganda press and political establishment to push a fatally flawed candidate into the Republican nomination. The toast of the town now will just be toast come the fall.

I wonder if Huckabee is going to get a much needed cash infusion at this point? If he does, he could take the ball from McCain in the 4th quarter and score. If he doesn't then my guess is that the scene remains status quo and Huckabee will have the veep slot.

Did you notice the comments Huckabee made last night after the results were firming up? He comes right out with more (and historically consistent at least for the campaign) pro 2nd Amendment rhetoric. If he was in his heart an antigunner (which I know he is not) that subject would never find it's way into his speeches. Yet Huckabee has been consistently raising 2nd Amendment issues thru the whole campaign.

If he's the veep on a McCain ticket I can feel reassured that we won't see any new gun control crap get signed into law. I think Huckabee is a man of integrity and deep seated patriotism. If Huck is at he #2 position, I'll not only vote for McCain, I'll volunteer.

I cannot see myself supporting the candidate the New York Times thinks should be our nominee.

No McAmnesty.

The good news is that this ticket means that you can pass your firearms down to your grandchildren.

The bad news is that your grandchildren will be pressing #2 for English, while their tax dollars go to pay for entitlements for illegals, such as Gov. Huckabee championed, in Arkansas.

And if you disagree with entitlements for illegals, Veep Huckabee will call you a racist, and a demogogue.

Since, as you say, “Rush and Ann have but a fraction of the audience that the ‘mainstream’ media has,” just think how much damage they could do if their audience was larger.

You completely missed my other point.

I wasn’t referring to conservative support for McCain. I referred to conservative talk show hosts who convinced multitudes to NOT vote for McCain, thus driving them to Huckabee and skewering Romney.

So which horse will you ride into November? I don’t have one in the race. But I will vote in November for whoever I deem will do the least harm, thus preserving my right to gripe for four more years.

I really don't think that I'm going to get any grandchildren. My daughter had a bad experience with marriage and I just don't see it happening again anytime in the next 10 years. By that time, this country won't even exist no matter who occupies the Oval Office, next year or in eight more years.

History is marching to it's pre-destined and inevitable conclusion and it's tracking exactly to God's timetable. I'm not worried in the least. I only want to be able to protect myself and my family from the evil that covers the earth. At least as long as I'm physically able to do so. After that, to paraphrase the immortal words of Davey Crockett before he journeyed to the Alamo: The world can go to HELL and I shall go to Texas.

Were going to see a lot more “downsizing” in the Republican party than Romney’s staff.

Looks like the Republican ticket will be McCain/Huck

I doubt it. Karl Rove inserted some sanity into that discussion last night when he pointed out the obvious — Presidential nominees choose the VP that is going to help them the most. That is unlikely, in the final analysis for McCain, to be Huckabee.
