As one who took an oath to defend the Constitution, I can never vote for someone that directly infringed upon free speech rights.

I’d rather have a liberal Democrat screw up the country than a liberal Republican doing the same......at least the Democrats would take the blame and the backlash.

If that is what your conscience mandates you do.

My conscience is not allowing me to facilitate the ongoing lack of leadership we send to DC anymore. I just cannot.

This country will not be fixed until the majority of Americans are willing to accept that there will be pain involved in repair process. Sadly most of Americans are ignorant or on board for the entitlements that we vote ourselves. Make no mistake that none of the current crop of lying candidates will start the repair process.

I am prepared for the pain and would like to see it now rather than when my children are in their mature years and struggling to raise a family and such.

I say a revolution is inevitable whether peaceful or armed, it is coming. I want it to happen while I am young enough to participate or wait until I am dead and gone.

He won’t answer any of that. In fact, I would look for a little bit of hostility from him. I personally don’t think he’s coming to “suck up” or make nice, I think he’s coming to get some soundbites and clips to show how he “stood up” to the “wingnuts” at CPAC and showed them who’s who.

I wouldn’t look for any mea culpas or repentance from McQweeg at CPAC. I actually think he’s using this to show what a “Maverick” he is to the independents and moderate Dem’s.

Trust me, I think McStrawberries is out to try to win this with a mushy middle, libertarian-independent, moderate dem coalition. He’s counting on being able to marginalize the right.

Still, CPAC will be very interesting and I hope the conservatives s—t hammer him tomorrow over all of his betrayals.

I am also in the process of weaning myself off of politics because it is consuming me and causing depressive states. It is time to focus on God, family, and work.

"The only reason to vote for McCain is to help the GOP get more liberal. Because that is all it will accomplish."

They have gotten used to conservatives falling in line - holding their nose and voting for whoever they decide THEY want.

Not anymore!! We'll only keep getting more of the same.

If we don't stand for something - we'll fall for anything.

My integrity means more to me than THEIR party.

If McCain acts as you say, and you’re most likely right because he’s told us to f-off for so long, then i’d love to the leader of CPAC stand up shake his hand and wish him well. As CPAC votes to start a new political party.

I’m done wih the GOP. Is there actually a Conservative Party?

There are all sorts of third parties, and if you look hard enough you'll probably find one whose platform and candidates are largely in accordance with your beliefs. What you won't find is a third party whose candidates have the slightest chance of winning the general election.

I like how Cogamer had to say it, so once again I’m stealing it. Just replace tootyfruityrudy with McCainiack:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1909436/posts?page=158#152

some people on this board are PUSHING it. They not only expect us to grin and tolerate it, they expect us to help!! They see conservatives being marginalized, and then bash conservatives for not supporting the politicians who are marginalizing them. It’s insane!

Let’s look at this through the prism of other movements: Would pro-choice women vote for a politician who announced he wanted to make abortion illegal? Would black voters ever support a politician who wanted to bring back segregation? Would muslims ever support a candidate who was on the record as saying islam was evil?

Would their friends even TRY to tell them they HAD to vote for these candidates even if they didn’t want to?

No! But conservatives are expected to vote for anyone who has an R after their name, no matter how dangerous to the movement, just to avoid the ire of a bunch of wishy-washy phonies whose only brush with conservatism is the fact that they post to this website.

They need to understand - if they nominate Rudy, THEY are responsible for what follows. THEY know many will refuse to support him. So, turning their flawed logic on its head : If they support Rudy, they must actually want Hillary to win. Indeed - if Hillary changed parties they’d be telling us we had to support HER to stop OBAMA!!!!

A democrat win will prove what we have been saying. As long as there is 50% of the population that are convinced that it can't be any worse under the dims, rebellion against the Republican leaders will just smolder.

No one liked the Czar, but they didn't want him dead until they began to starve. Perhaps it's time for some conservitive sheeple to starve.

Well, that's it then. Might as well vote my conscience with a conservative in a 3rd party, because between the two majors there is no conservative that has the slightest chance of winning the general election either.

"Is there a better chance from a rat?"

McCain as just as much a "rat" as Hillary and Obama. Your court justices will look no different regarding which of these 3 do the nominating.

And it's moot point at any rate because John McCain will NEVER be the President of the United States. Just not going to happen so stop drooling

Uh...Justice Souter was appointed by Bush 41 at the urging of Sununu, who claimed Souter was conservative. He is as dependably Left as Ginsburg and Breyer, who were Clinton appointees.
And the country clubbers wonder why we no longer trust them.

“The proof that McCain is more dangerous than a democrat is in the words of every person who demands that we vote for him because he’s better than a democrat.”

I fully agree with that assessment.

Git yer cheap rotgut whiskey here! Yeah, it’ll make you go blind and kill ya, but you’ll feel good while you’re doin it!

That is why it is imperative that true conservatives do not vote for anyone except 3rd party or write in. If you vote for McCain or worse vote for a Dim ( on that twisted logic ) then a high/average voter turn out will not be the message we want sent to the GOP. They need to see that a good majority of conservatives stayed home and held the voter turn out down to where nobody wins with over 50% in the general.

That will send a message to the GOP that some people are sick of the status quo and we are ready for changes or to a 3rd party we will go.

After McCain’s BS play in West Virginia artificially boosting Huckabee to hurt Romney he is a cheating lying POS worse than I thought of him before. I will never vote for him.

I really do think that’s what we’re coming down to. I think this might be the end of the GOP as the Whigs went. It really seems we’re on the verge of a big split and nationalists, social conservatives, secure borders crowd, etc are going to have to form a new party. There needs to be a clear, and well-defined, conservative choice. We have watched the Republican party hijacked by the checked-pants, country club, Rockefeller Republicans who simply want to be a “Dem lite” party, all Council on Foreign Relations boys, all open borders anti-Nationalism types, and it’s time for true conservatives to make a clean break and start something new. They won’t listen to us, they hold us in contempt, they spit on us every chance they get (anyone remember all the nasty comments we got during the shamnesty debate? Remember Trent Lott’s contempt? McCain’s contempt? Bush’s contempt? All the party “big boys” like Rove - their contempt?). Let them have the RINO party.
