Sandra Day O'Connor, appointed by Reagan, wrote the decision which upheld the gutting of the First Amendment by McCain-Feingold, as well as decisions in Grutter, which upheld the University of Michigan's racist admission practices; BSA v. Dale, which prohibited the Boy Scouts from barring gay scout leaders.
