“Fred is a man of principle.”

If you say so. Might be a vote on the clinton impeachment thing he could have done differently...

“I hope we get older and wiser. I keep trying.”

Well, keep me posted on how you’re doing with that. The older I get, I’m just grateful I’m getting older. I’m wondering if ‘wiser’ might be out of my grasp. LOL

Not really, but this will be the only way for us to get a Conservative in as President. I expect McCain, if elected, to die in office, so the choice of VP is of paramount concern.

I am shocked by your shock. Fred Thompson was McCain second biggest supporter after Linsey Graham, when he ran for President 8 years ago. He campaigned hard for him and went every year with him, lending him his celebrity.

I hope he is the VP Nominee.

Pubs would destroy Hobama with this ticket! Guranteed!

God Bless Fred! God Bless America!!!

” in retrospect I suspect his entry and exit were a choreographed means of consolidating support for McCain by fragmenting Conservative support.”

BINGO.

But I really don’t think the VP spot will be the payoff.

Fred and his sons are still in the lobbyist business. Take it from there.

One of the “ways it turned out” is that Alan whipped Barack Hussein like a red-headed stepchild every time they debated.

Know anyone else with the true eloquence on behalf of conservatism to counter Barack’s high-falutin’ but ultimately empty rhetoric?

I saw it in a story here on FR http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1967453/posts?page=46

googled in a frenzy, found this and posted. I hope it’s a freaking lie. If I lose my FR account over it, fine. Better I’m wrong than this be right.

No, but Thompson meant a lot to me. I spent a lot of time and money promoting him and this is just a disappointment.

I understand. I considered giving him money, briefly. I invested some hope in Fred. But I rarely invest enough of my emotions in a politician to end up disappointed. At least it's been a long, long time since I did so.

With politicians, we are like spouses of alcoholics. They beg and promise to be good, we take them back, they screw us. Endless cycle.

I REALIZE having a President McLame will bring the danger of a liberal judge

Not if FReepers can help it. Remember Harriet Miers. If McCain should win the Presidency we are bound by principle to hold his feet to the fire and stop any move he makes toward the left.

Unfortunately, he already backed off on his fiscal conservatism message by returning to DC to vote yes on the stimulus package.

Not to mention if the big “C” were to take both of them out, it is “Good Morning President Pelosi”!

ARKK!! Forgot about that.
