John Bolton endorses McCain
The corner at National Review ^

Posted on 02/09/2008 7:59:40 PM PST by byteback

"John McCain was very active and supportive during my confirmation hearings to be the U.S. Ambassador to the UN. His belief in me at that time was a testament to his courage to fight the liberals in the Senate and vigorously advance American interests at the UN.

"I whole-heartedly endorse John McCain for President because when he takes office in January 2009 he will be prepared immediately to lead us. John will not need on the job training.

"American conservatives will have a President they can be proud of in John McCain."

"Have you checked McCain is poison list here on FR? It's enough to scare a reasonable person who loves this country!! Scroll down to Free Republic Opinion Poll: Would you be for or against McCain?

thank you Lady J, yes i am aware. I have hated Mccain for some years now.

I know my opinion is unpopular and it would be far safer to just stay quiet and wait for the folks to simmer down.

We need to unify against Hillary and Obama, and do it NOW !

there is too much at stake and no time for vain selfish hatred of mcCain.

Sure I can simmer down. McCain is running on his military record too..and his treatment of this MIA lady shows him not to be an officer & a gentleman!!

He has the same seething disrespect for us too.

His treatment of the MIA lady is despicable. His temper is out of control.

I don't need the Holy Ghost to guide my actions. I have principles, along with common sense, instilled within me to be able to dictate my actions.

If we as Americans allow the sacrifice of our soldiers in Iraq to be wasted by the election of Clinton/Obama this fall, we shall be damned to the last generation. It won’t just be the end of the GOP, but also the end of the conservative movement and we’ll richly deserve it.

I hear a lot of happy talk here about how Clinton/Obama won’t ACTUALLY surrender Iraq, there’s a technical name for this in political science, it’s called Bull SH#$.

I did a check of his voting record and it looks more conservative than what Bush has offered up for the past 8 years.

Could you find a list of close votes and check McCain's record on those? My personal take on McCain is that he writes nasty legislation with the hope of getting it passed, but then votes against it if it's clear it's not going to. By doing so, he avoids what should be very major stains on his record.

I know of two big issues decided by one vote where McCain was on the wrong side (ANWR and G14). On how many equally-close votes did McCain side with us?

That is a vote for Obama or Hillary then

I believe that McCain is effectively a Democrat puppet. He probably does not see himself as one, but he is so addicted to the accolades he gets for "crossing the aisle" that he'll probably do pretty much anything for them if they ask properly.

Given a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat puppet, I'd rather have the real Democrat. The puppet will not only let the Democrats run wild, but it will ensure the blame falls on the Republicans.

If you don't think McCain has devolved into a Democrat puppet, please offer some evidence against that proposition. My evidence to support the proposition starts with McCain-Edwards, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, Gang-of-Fourteen, etc.

I know, believe me, I’m with you. With a fine distinction. McCain is my next-to-last choice. I can’t escape the logical conclusion that it’s not possible to abstain. Disgusting as the choice may be, any vote other than a vote for the nominee is, objectively, a vote for the worst possible choice.

Do you want to ever have the country escape from liberalism? It's not clear that it ever can. Letting Hillary or Obama take office as we teach the GOP a lesson isn't terribly likely to succeed, but if McCain wins the nomination I can basically guarantee you he'll ensure the situation will be even worse then.

Perhaps it isn't possible to escape liberalism, and if that's the case perhaps we should simply make what we can of the last years before the Shining City on a Hill falls into oblivion. I wouldn't be happy about such a philosophy, but I would understand it. But to debate such a position meaningfully it's necessary to acknowledge exactly what one's position is.

You are right that Democrats are everything that you say. They are the enemy of the people. I posit that McCain is worse than any democrat.

If you want to prove me wrong then post here the name and record of one senator or congressman that has more damage to freedom and to the United States than McCain.

McCain with McCain-Feingold did more damage to the constitution, the first Amendment and freedom of speech than anyone else has. Now you tell me how a free and prosperous society is to exist without freedom of speech.

Mccain also tried to destroy the United States by working for 10 years to give Amnesty to 30 million illegals and their families back home in the 3rd world. This he did to increase the number of voters for Democrats and for socialism. McCain is a Marxist enemy of the American people and of the U.S..

That’s just 2 examples . many more. And McCain worked with Soros groups and the most radical liberal Democrats to give us his 2 gems MccAin-kennedy ( the Amnesty bill) and McCain-Feingold.

I always listen to what Bolton has to say — but I’m disappointed at his endorsement. I wish he had kept his opinion to himself and patiently watch and wait, as we all are.

If Bush would have had a history in congress he would look about the same.

So you think Obama hussein or Hillary would more likely better represent your vision for the future of our nation then ?

or do you really just hate mcCain that much more than Obama or hillary !
