Trotsky was a loyal, ardent Communist. Why would Stalin dispatch a nutjob with an ax to terminate him in Mexico City in 1940.

I wouldn't doubt that the Media Party would eventually want to be rid of John McCain. I would expect, however, that may be premature in eliminating him before the election. Admittedly, much would depend on his VP choice. After all, if he were to pick someone like Fred Thompson as VP (not sure Fred would accept, but just suppose...) the Media Party would run the danger that even if McCain's loyalty never wavered he might nonetheless do something unacceptable like die. If his VP was at least reasonably acceptable to the Media Party, though, I think they would be well served by letting him be President for four years.

McCain has NEVER done any such thing.

I don't know of any and you don't know of any. But perhaps one of McCain's supporters could point out one we've missed?

Perhaps the can must up even one. Such strong supporters should be able to cite more than that, but even just one would be a good starting point.

"Perhaps the can must up even one" should be "Perhaps they can muster up even one."

Bolton is a great reference. Would McCain swear to re-appoint him as UN Ambassador -- or better -- as Secretary of State?

For what we have heard McCain has promised to do is send the bloody-handed James Baker to the Mid-east to run the show there. THAT would be very bad.

"It’s just sort of interesting watching some of the conservative icons, those who could do no wrong, now supporting McCain."

Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are DC Republicans first and Conservatives Americans second. Time to bring them to heel.

I’m VERY anti-McQueeg, but this is a good sign.
Now if Ann Coulter says something nice about him, I’m in.

We're finding out who are republicans first, and Americans second.

In Bolton's case, he may simply be focused so narrowly on foreign policy, and the 'war or terror', that he is incapable of seeing McCain's domestic sins and abominations.

No matter his reasoning, this is a huge disappointment. I had thought much better of him.

We most certainly are. I, too, am disappointed. Very.

“That we must always be alert and informed goes without saying. However, citizens becoming disenchanted and “dropping out” because of anger at “politics” is just what the enemies of any REPUBLIC want. Nature abhors a vacuum and history teaches us that the Left and/or dictators will always spring up to fill that vacuum when good citizens don’t care any more and distrust or hate all politicians.”

It would also help if the voters themselves would bone up and become a lot more savvy so that they could make wise choices as the field of candidates narrow. A lot of the blame is on the politically uneducated voters themselves. Or one issue voters who vote for candidates even though they know they are not going to win, but they vote for that candidate anyhow, thus not allowing other good candidates to be able to get a leg up in the race. So, in actuality, many Pub voters should look in the mirror to find the source of the problem during this election cycle.
