"Hillary should pray I get in the race because that would help her,"

Yeah -- help her lose NY! Run, Bloomie, Run (OR, better yet, STFU!).

Bloomberg said at a recent event, "Hillary should pray I get in the race because that would help her," according to a source quoted in the Daily News gossip column Rush & Molloy.

I think Bloomberg would likely syphon off the so-called "moderates" that McCain is counting on to offset the conservative no-vote.

There are many who dislike Hillary's personality, but are put off by Obama's blatant socialism (Hillary's is a bit more subtle.) They like McCain's "bipartisanship" because they're not really Republicans, and definitely not conservatives.

Most importantly of all, they love catch-phrases such as "fiscal responsibility" spearheaded by a "successful businesman" with a "proven track record." They're concerned about such things as a balanced budget, although they can't explain why, and they want to see their personal wealth protected.

Social issues don't concern them; the soccer-mom contingent supports gun-control, and the war isn't as important an issue as the economy.

McCain might get their vote, but since he has no razzle-dazzle economic creds (but does have age and temperament negatives), Bloomberg will fill the bill nicely.

The New York media labors under the delusion that people outside their burroughs (burrows)know or care who Bloomberg is.

The New York papers really need to stop kidding themselves than anybody outside their primary market even really gives a crap about Mike Bloomberg.

Bloomberg is a danger to McCain. He might siphon off just enough independents and RHINOS to make a difference. My theory is that he has a secret deal with Hillary to play the spoiler.
