(WA) McCain takes narrow win over Huckabee, Paul in state

Although Arizona Sen. John McCain has seized a commanding lead in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, Washington's Republican caucus-goers showed they are still very divided on their party's nominee.

With 87 percent of precincts reporting Saturday night, the state party declared McCain the victor with only a narrow lead over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul a fairly close third. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who suspended his presidential campaign last week, also received a sizable chunk of delegates.

In Auburn for his caucuses, former state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance said he wasn't worried about GOP enthusiasm for McCain in November.

"By the time fall comes around, I have no doubt that all these people will be ringing doorbells, putting up signs, standing on street corners, campaigning for John McCain, Dino Rossi and Rob McKenna," Vance said.

Got to love the McCain arrogance seeping down through his campaign to his supporter. Again we hear 'ignore the Conservatives they'll all fall in line by election time'.

They didn’t count all the votes and declared McCain the winner.

It smells to me.

The masters of the GOP plantation will be shocked in August to find that they will be expected to do the heavy lifting this time around. The workers will be on strike.
And as for campaign contributions, fuggedaboudit.

I have great admiration for Chris Vance. As long as I have known him he has always shown me great political savvy.

I am hoping that this period of bitterness passes and that we can return to the pleasure of cooking the DemonRATS until they are toast in November.

McCain was able to do really well against a well monied sophisticated opponent. He will win as the dems have set themselves up in a big trap. I’m not saying this because I’m on the mccain rara team...I see what he’s doing, he has a strategy.

There will be no “ making up with McCain”. He is unacceptable, and will have very little grass roots support or money.

All the beltway crowd can get their illegal cheap labor to knock on doors. Tons of conservatives are not interested.

Maybe Juan Henandez can find McCain some help from Mexico.

NOTHING would give me more political pleasure to see the Traitorous Bastard go home a loser, if not now, then November will be fine.

He is without honor.

Doing the work Americans won't do.

"...we can return to the pleasure of cooking the DemonRATS until they are toast in November."

Right script. Wrong casting.

How can you (and other McCain supporters) ASSUME those who have fought the "DemonRATS" will now automatically fall in line behind the man who is still unrepentant about being the Democrats' favorite Republican?

He is the man who did not just "reach across the aisle" but jumped the fence to lead the Democrat charge against us on countless issues... but now all must be forgotten and we must trust McCain because he says he's a Conservative and is on our side.

"Maybe Juan Hernandez can find McCain some help from Mexico."

Juan Hernandez's boss, McCain, finds nothing wrong with having a man on his campaign staff who - although born in the US - took Mexican citizenship and served on the Cabinet of Mexican President Fox - in spite of the required oath of allegiance to Mexico involved. So maybe Hernandez can find McCain a position with the Mexican government.

McCain’s strategy is to have his campaign adviser do the same thing he did for Vincente Fox - when he served on his MEXICAN presidential cabinet... deliver the vote of the Mexican illegals in the U.S.. (All in exchange for rewarding them with US citizenship.)

I think McCain is coming around to our thinking. He has been stubborn. However, I saw a humility and a resolve to reach across the aisle to us conservatives, when he spoke to us in Seattle Friday night. What I heard was a deep love for conservatives that stood behind him way back when was a prisoner in Viet Nam. He has a deep gratitude for the conservative cause because from us came that respect for the soldiers who fight for our nation.

Not much has been explored as to the political problems in the Senate that may have contributed to McCain’s actions as a Senator. I wonder about them, but do not have to time to explore how they affected McCain.

I thought the Dems had copyrighted that strategy! Oh, that’s right, they offer amnesty and a big slice of gummint cheese to go with it. That’s always better than just amnesty.
