Washington, DC) - On May 12, 2005, Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-MA), John McCain (R-AZ), and Reps. Kolbe, Flake and Gutierrez, joined by Sens. Brownback and Lieberman, introduced, under the working title, "Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act of 2005 (S.1033/H.R. 2330), legislation referred to as the most sweeping immigration reform bill in two decades. The Muslim American Society's Freedom Foundation joined in support of the Kennedy/McCain Bill and asked for community support in its release dated May 23, 2005.
The McCain/Kennedy Bill, backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and numerous other groups, would allow some of the estimated 10-12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to gain legal work permits and eventual citizenship.
MAS Freedom has learned, as reported by Reuters, that the White House has not endorsed the McCain/Kennedy Bill and is instead working with Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Jon Kyl (R-AZ), who are crafting a rival bill much less generous to migrants.
Your support for the proposed Kennedy/McCain legislation is needed now more than ever!!!
Urge your Senators and Representatives to fix our broken immigration system by supporting comprehensive immigration reform that contains the following key principles:
(1) Reform Must Be Comprehensive; (2) Provide a Path to Citizenship; (3) Protect Workers; (4) Reunite Families; (5) Restore the Rule of Law and Enhance Security; (6) Promote Citizenship and Civic Participation and Help Local Communities.

We will follow in the footsteps of the UK. The cancer marches on. The enemy within! The way it looks now politically the back door and the front door is wide open come on in! I don’t know who to stop first the mexicans or the muslims. America time to pack your bags and move to........
I think the Senator was in error in this issue, but Iraq and the War on Terror are still Issues Number 1 and 1a on the calendar, and Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Obama will be a disaster to American foreign policy if they are elected.
Let’s see the particulars of the new bill. I doubt it will be anything we can stomach but to reject it before seeing it (and what is good and bad) is not productive.
The good news is they are playing defense.
Do a keyword search for “McCain” today on FR. Each bad decision he made can singularly be dismissed. Collectively, it is obvious we must prevent McCain from getting the nomination.
This is 2005. We saw it already.
And as I've said before, so I'll say again: victory in Iraq is preferred, but not at the loss of our homeland to the illegal invaders and the granting of the rights of U.S. citizens to foreign terrorists. McCain fully intends to do both of those very things; each of which by themselves assure our losing the war on terror in the long run.
Group hug people and get to the rear. Juan's in front, leading us through the desperate wilderness of party tension to the promised land of a brighter tomorrow...
(McCain in the background)- "How much longer do I have to put up with these &$^holes, Lindsay?!"
The real problem is the first generation we’re getting are the uneducated campesinos who can’t read Spanish, let alone English, and are drawing us down in terms of wages. The Mexican political parties are fighting over resources inside the country, if I am reading ‘La Jornada’ or ‘Milenio’ correctly*, and they prefer that the campesinos go North and send money back, rather than cause even greater pressure on the upper classes and government there.
* I am learning Spanish, German, and Danish presently; I speak French fairly well.
