(Washington, DC)-Today, Sen. Jim DeMint released a new web video, “Code Stink: Berkeley City Council Edition”, about the vote last week by the City Council of Berkeley to oust Marine Corps recruiters from their downtown office, saying the Marines were “uninvited and unwelcome intruders.” Berkeley officials also voted to give the radical protest group Code Pink space outside the recruitment office and urged them to “impede, passively or actively” the work of Marine Corps recruiters.
The video features comments by members of Code Pink and Berkeley City Council. Council members called the Marines “the President’s own gangsters” and “trained killers.” They said Marines had given America “horrible karma” and had a history of “death and destruction.” The Council stated “Military recruiters are sales people known to lie to and seduce minors.”
More importantly, the video also features the reactions of several local veterans from South Carolina. “Frankly I’m appalled by the actions that the Berkeley City Councils has taken against our Marine Corps recruiters,” said (Ret.) Marine Sgt. Gene Wilbur “They should have never taken actions like this, and I certainly hope action will be taken in the United States Senate and Congress.”
Yesterday, Sen. DeMint introduced the Semper Fi Act of 2008. The bill would rescind over $2 million in hidden earmarks for Berkeley, California in the 2008 Omnibus Appropriations bill, and transfer the funds to the Marine Corps. “I hope this video will help inform people not yet aware of the radical decision of the Berkeley City Council,” said Sen. DeMint. “Berkeley needs to learn that their actions have consequences. Patriotic American taxpayers won’t sit quietly while Berkeley insults our brave Marines and tries to run them out of town.”
make this guy VP. McCain could cack.
DeMint/Jindal 2012
(DeMint was damn good against the shamnesty bill last year)
they’ll be the first bunch crying for the marines and the feds to do something if there is a terrorist attack
God bless you Jim Demint you are a true patriot, why are you not running against Mcranky? I am not hoping for an attack on American soil but I would love to see thier faces if they did have an amphibious attack in the area and the Marines stood by arms folded backs turned and heads held high. I know our boys would never do such a thing but it does get you thinking and it certainly gets you angry! God bless arm our men and women in uniform!
“they’ll be the first bunch crying for the marines and the feds to do something if there is a terrorist attack”
No. These socialist MORONS are so far gone they will say our military conducted the attack.
Boycott Berkley, boycott the entire San Francisco area!
I'd like to see him do that.
DeMint is da’ man!
The petition
We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Council’s treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws it’s action.
The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and “if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.”
The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.
The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.
