Harry Byrd, 93 -- no relation to Sen. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, who is 90

I thought it was Sheets Byrd at first, too.

That would be a much better endorsement.

hank you ‘Sheets’...

Wrong Byrd...Harry Byrd is from Virginia Tidewater aristocracy, a blueblood FFV (related to North and South Pole explorer Admiral Byrd) and wasn't the product of a backwoods Appalachia West Virginia outhouse conception by a moonshiner's daughter pimped out to a coal mining camp!

Interesting character.

However, nothing unusual about a Democrat/Independent liking McCain unfortunately.

Well, you wouldn’t expect an old KKK leader to vote for Obama, would you? He can organize Racists for McCain and attract northeastern Democrats for that group.

After reviewing some of his speeches and watching more and more people I consider “true conservatives” endorse the guy, I’m begining to think I might be able to support him.

He’s by far not the best choice, but damnit, he’s looking to be our man. I think we need to start showing support for McCain.

Besides, what kind of message would it send to the rest of the world that we would rather reluctantly vote for a guy like McCain than vote for a socialist like Obama? (And that the reluctant vote is still more powerful than the liberal one)

We may need to change the title to address WHICH Byrd is being talked about.

This Byrd is a good man and not at all associated with bed linen.

Amen! Harry Byrd was a better conservative than the RINOs we’ve got running around today (including McCain).
