Obama hits Clinton on tax returns, style
Politico ^ | Feb 12, 2008 | Mike Allen

Taking a position that could help him win a general election, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) said in an interview that the federal government should experiment with charter schools even if some Democrats oppose the idea...

“I’ve consistently said I think we need to support charter schools,” Obama said. “I think it’s important for us to experiment in terms of how teachers are compensated — working with teachers but looking at how we can reward excellence in classrooms.”

Asked about the reaction of teachers’ unions, Obama acknowledged that they “haven’t been thrilled with me talking about this...

“All I can tell you is, I’ve released my income tax return because I think it is appropriate, if you’re running for the highest office in the land, for people to have a sense of how you make your money,” he said. “Now, I think it’s up to Sen. Clinton and [former] President [Bill] Clinton to determine whether or not they want to follow my lead on that. … It’s not a question of what I want to know — I think it’s what the American people deserve to know, which is just how, in fact, are people’s finances handled.”

Obama called the release of financial records “a long-standing tradition in presidential politics — it’s like releasing your medical records. It’s part of the information that people [use to] make an assessment in terms of how you are going to perform as president.”

Excuse me, but why should the federal government establish any school for K-12? That’s a local and state responsibility.

Which Billy Jeff Clinton never did either.

Stop teaching cr** in the publice schools and parents might support them.

TEACH THE 3 R'S and stop the experimenting. Creativity comes as we grow...

Oh yeh...Some kids squirm...some tap their toes...some bite their nails...STOP THE MEDICATING!!

A friend of mine had a squirmy daughter. He told the teachers no meds...no way, no how. The little "troubled child" ia now a doctor!!

Teachers have become the "know it alls" of society. Most suck!!

I think if we had more male teachers, half the problems would go away.

The superintendent kept our city school open even though it was pretty cold and the suburban schools were closed. He got a lot of complaints. 90% of the complaints were from TEACHERS and COUNSELORS.

Charter schools aren’t exactly vouchers, home schools, or private schools.

I want a $5,000 voucher for my homeschooling of my daughter to pay for field trips, books, a learning space, videos, computer programs, teaching of music, dance, athletics, and in later years science, where I’m not qualified! How’s that?

NEA is not pleased!

I suspect they will be even less pleased when their product is more closely examined on history (correctly written), on math, reading, writing, grammar etc. Thus far, some 75% of the NEA has failing grades - it is not entirely their fault....their own education was lacking in the substances....school boards and think tanks have thrown the baby out with the bath water as it were, leaving this "modern" morass or abyss of intellectual void. Political Correctness is the new religion and rule for education....and of course a student must show loyalty for the dictates of Global Warming, Socialist beliefs, loathing of country etc....and there is the parental absenteeism in raising their child regardless of circumstances…………..

“How do the clintons get away with not releasing their tax return???”

There’s no law requiring it, although it’s been a tradition.

The Charter School is a publicly funded school with a little less controls.

I guess the Clintons didnt claim all the ChiCom cash they were given for the rights to the countries most vauable military secrets.
The damage done by those animals will never be completely known.
And the GOP wants to run someone who thinks Hiliary would be a good president.
