The biggest names in presidential politics Clinton, Obama, McCain and Huckabee are about to become even more inescapable to Texans as the candidates begin barnstorming the state to win votes and the largest remaining trove of delegates in the country.
With 228 Democratic delegates and 140 of their Republican counterparts at stake in Texas March 4 primary election, the four remaining top presidential contenders are sending their campaigns to rustle up votes all over the Lone Star State.
-SNIP- Despite McCains advantage in delegates, a Huckabee spokesman continued to insist that voters should not count out the ordained-Baptist minister from Arkansas.
I cant tell you how many times I have read his political obituary, starting back right after he announced, Huckabee spokesman Jim Harris said. Here it is a year later and we are still in the game and people are still (saying) he doesnt have a chance. He may be standing up there being sworn in on the steps of the Capitol with people still saying he doesnt have a chance.
-SNIP- Steffen Schmidt, an Iowa State University political science professor who visited McLennan Community College Tuesday, said Huckabees decision to stay in the race could have benefits for Republicans.
No. 1, it forces (McCain) to come to Texas, said Schmidt, known as Dr. Politics because of his frequent appearances as a political analyst for media outlets such as CNN. If he had the nomination wrapped up, why would he come to Texas? No. 2, Huckabee staying in the race keeps McCains face out there. Every night on the news, every morning in the paper, theres John McCain. If McCain had the nomination wrapped up, Clinton and Obama would get all the attention, and thats never good.

All the things I'm missin',
Good vittles, love, and kissin',
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up

Count 'em out, ride 'em in,
Ride 'em in, count 'em out,

Maybe I ought to run for president? I have great name recognition and my own song.
Yes, but can you give the nation hope!
I know they are democrats but it would make me proud to be an American If TEXAS would be the State that would drive the dagger into the heart of the Beast !!!
Such are the things that dreams are made of !
The Huckster may have majored in miracles, as is evidenced by the fact that he has received even one vote, however, he sure didn’t major in Economics as can be seen in this little gem from the Huckster’s own website.
“However, if government spending is cut (as supply siders also desire), demand for these products will drop precipitously since the federal government is the single largest purchaser in the country. Therefore, simultaneous tax-and-spending cuts will create a surplus of goods and services, causing recession, and ultimately breaking the economic circuit.”
Better living through government spending. Worked well for the Soviets didn’t it Huck.
Obviously, this guy is still getting paid, hehehehehe.
It would rock if Huck won Texas by the same margin he won Kansas....3 to 1
He’s got my vote.
Yes, but Huckabee’s all about hope don’t you know. Hope for criminals that they will be set free.
Huckites don’t care about his record, don’t confuse them with facts. They only care that he’s not Mc Cain.
