Man starves himself to death in treehouse

A man in Germany has committed suicide by hiding deep in a forest and starving himself to death.

The man, who has not been named, kept a diary as his life ebbed away.

Police said that two hunters had found the decaying corpse of the 58-year-old man in an isolated hide.

It was discovered in a make-shift treehouse 16ft off the ground in a forest about 60 miles from his hometown of Hanover.

By his body was a chronicle of the 24 days he spent there before he died, in which he wrote of his pain at the break-up of his marriage, his estrangement from his daughter and his long-term unemployment.

The last entry in the diary was written on Dec 13, almost two months ago.

Police described the death as a "clear suicide" and said that they would pass on the diary to the man's daughter, as he had requested that they should do in an entry in the notebook.

pretty sad, too bad he didn't have a dog, that might have saved him

kinda reminds me of jilted conservatives , "starving themselves in the voting booth"

If a man dies in a tree, does he make a sound?

You know, I was so weary of the name calling and conservative-bashing on the 'political' threads, so I decided to read only those that couldn't possibly be about politics. But thanks to you ...

The sad thing is we will probably discover - if we knew all the facts in the case of this poor man - that his suicide is the only time he took initiative to do anything with his life.

No job in Germany?

Move somehwere else. Get new training. Start a second career.

Estranged from your daughter? Will killing yourself help that any?

Upset over the break up of your marriage? Want revenge? Then live on and be happy - she’ll hate that. Want to find peace? Then live on and be happy - you’ll love that. Want her back? Sorry, all you can have is memories, but they’re a lot more enjoyable than starving yourself to death in a treehouse in the woods.

Suicide is simple stupid. I pity this poor man. He still could have had a good life. Now he’s thrown it all away.

No.

But the possums and vultures do.

Suicide - a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Sounds more like death by an empty stomach.

I think it is likely he had some other mental disorder. Being unemployed for a long period and estranged from his own daughter signals more than just a broken heart, don’t you think?

Quite right. It's a primary symptom of ASES. (Acute Socialist Eurotrash Syndrome.)

When I was growing up near Houston there was an area in the back of the subdivision
where old men would park their cars and drink themselves to death.

This instance may have proven true the old maxim that “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”

The only way to go. A personal decision, with full recognition of the larger Forces. A fine way to return to the Continuum. Using the final frontier, going fully Conscious into your own melting.
