I can't imagine what this kid is going to have to go thru because of having the name McCain.........I wish him all the the best of luck. For what its worth, being #1 in the class or #200 doesn't really mean a hill of beans in the long run. What matters is that you finish.........
I have a nephew who is now a board certified surgeon who is now studying at Harvard. My dad and I both tried to talk him into applying for any of the military academys (there is no question he would have been accepted) but my sister was absolutely adamant that he would not go into the military and that the medical profession was his ultimate destiny............
While I certainly respect all that my nephew has accomplished in his short time on this earth, I place him second to any and all graduates of our military academys.........Thats just the way I am.
Newt says that John McCain needs to let the American public know who he is. Everyone knows he’s a former POW, etc. But, they need to know about his military family, his parents, his children (including the little girl they adopted from overseas), and most of all his wife and how she overcame her struggles.
Americans like success stories and love him or loath him, McCain family has been successful and have fought back in the face of adversity. (Remember: Four months ago, his campaign was dead in the water.)
