...conservative voices, both from radio and from publications, are saying, ‘you know what, we’ve got to get behind Mitt Romney,’”

It’s a foolish endeavor to try to get behind Flip-Flop Romney.

No, it's called saying things you don't believe because you think it's what the voters want to hear.

....and envisioning using it in a campaign ad down the road.

It's called political maturity. Also known as being a man and sucking-it-up on a party level.

You can kick Romney as you like but the McCain nomination is partially a result of your site having "truth files" that were one-sided and had no sense of objectivity. Romney had the most conservative agenda of any primary winner which, if he had gotten the nomination, would have at least reaffirmed those principles irregardless of whether Romney followed them. I maintain that he would of but that is never to be proved, at least in this cycle.

What we do have now is a candidate with a set of principles that is both pro and counter to general conservative principles. A Romney nomination would have confirmed conservative principles - now they are all up for grabs.

Isn’t that the truth. It would be funny if it wasn’t so disgusting.

I can think of a couple of things Reagan did that I don’t approve of. Try ten or twenty for McCain and Romney.

The two Dhimmis are pledged to Cut and Run out of Iraq even when Al Quida is on the ropes, Conservatives have spent 5 solid years defending the War on Terror.

Thusly, with Blood on the line, how can “Romney stop Mad John” when Mad John is the only one interested in protecting America?

Well what are we supposed to do? I go back and forth about what I’m going to do come November, but the more I see of ultra-leftist Obama, my choice is being made for me.

If he has hopes for 2012 this kind of stuff surely can’t help him.
I don’t support either but I am against McCain.

“Maybe Romney’s jealous because he himself didn’t have the guts or the support to stay in.”

Yeah, that’s real convincing.

Perhaps it’s something simpler and more believable - Romney has class and is adhering to the accepted practice of honorable candidates.

You can kick Romney as you like but the McCain nomination is partially a result of your site having "truth files" that were one-sided and had no sense of objectivity.

At an early stage, the (perceived) non-conservatives with a chance to win will be attacked most. McCain's polls were so weak at that time that he was attacked less. So it goes.

The quality of debate in an unmoderated forum is not going to be the highest. It seems you are saying the "truth files" had an impact and weight far out of proportion to the value put into them.

“Not getting into that debate (don’t blame me- I voted for Fred:) ...but I have a question - did you notice the scowl on McCain’s face during the press conf? He was frowning and did not look happy. It seemed so obvious to me- just wondering if I’m alone in my observation...”

I did notice McCain scowl. I do not think Romney likes McCAin but he did what he felt he needed to do. Probably with pressure from the RNC.

Romney has class and I respect him. He was my second choice after Fred dropped out and I would vote for Romney again.

This is an old article, and Romney most likely did feel that conservatives would stop McCain back during the early primary season. However, there were just too many McCain supporters and folks did not unite behind a more conservative candidate like Romney.

I will vote R in November. I do not like McCain at all, but four years of him will be better than one day of Hillary or Obama!

This is really stupid and childish. Romney invested a fortune to win the party's nomination and he lost. Now he's doing the only stand-up thing there is to do...he's endorsing our INEVITABLE candidate.

Geez...what do you expect? This is what happens in a primary season...losing candidates coalesce behind the winner and support the party. I don't like McCain anymore than you do...I voted for Huckabee in VA's primary to try and stop him but that failed and it is now a mathematical certainty that he will be the GOP nominee.
