Tacking on the “Hate Crime” modifier just plays into the satisfaction of the socialists so that they can feel good about themselves.
The crime was sufficiently heinous by itself. There is no need to make it more so.

King was shot in the head Tuesday morning while sitting in class at a junior high school in Oxnard, Calif. Guns aren't allowed in school. This just isn't possible. /sarcasm
