This idiot should be impeached for this statement.
Why are senators getting involved in football?
Because like baseball they have a Federal Anti-Trust expemtion.

This is always put forth on this forum like it's the end all argument. Hard to believe this is a place for those concerned with all controlling government. So they give up control of their own operation in exchange for exemption from some threat. Sort of like the restaurant owner buying his linens from a certain linen company in exchange for exemption from "accidental" fires.
Federal anti-trust exemption? How much is that really worth to MLB or to the NFL? With both major sports just about fully built-out, who in their right mind would want to start a competing league? All the major cities, and quite a few mid-size ones, are taken.
Both sports should ask Congress to yank the exemption & take their investigatory power & .... well, you know.
I’m an Eagles fan, but if they couldn’t win on the field... who cares?
There was another football league, can’t remember a whole lot about it, but they played in late 80’s for a few seasons ... they would pick up after SuperBowl into SPring as I recall. Obviously they didn’t make it, but there was an attempt at competition in the world of professinal football.
I can’t believe these senators have gotten into this .. or that I’ve wasted two posts on the subject.
