Google Earth uses the incorrect name of the Persian Gulf
It has come to our attention that Google Earth has been using an unrecognized name for the Always and Forever, Persian Gulf. Considering the fact that it is in Googles interest as a search engine is to support educational and scientific institution, it is hard for us to fathom how they made reference to the Persian Gulf with an unrecognized name. The United Nations, in addition to historical records and facts that date back more than thousands of years, have made it abundantly clear that the body of water in question is recognized as the Persian Gulf. The United Nations has twice recognized the legality of the term "Persian Gulf" (UNAD 311/March 5, 1971 and UNLA 45.8.2 (c) on August 10, 1984). It is significant that all Arab countries have signed the UN documents. For further information consult the following links:

Unfortunately due to powerful anti-Iranian activities and the typical incompetence of the Islamic Republic that occupies Iran, the southern states of the Persian Gulf who have only come to existence thanks to foreign powers, have slowly become more brazen. As the result the incorrect term of "Arabian Gulf" is mainly the result of a "successful public relations campaign undertaken in the name of geopolitical interests". In the fall of 2004, the National Geographic Society (NGS) made the same error. Marze Por Gohar party along with other Iranian opposition groups successfully demanded revisions to the on-line version as well as the 9th edition of the Atlas.
The Islamic Republic has had its foreign minister issue a statement whereby he thanks those outside Iran for defending the Persian Gulf, however they fail to realize that if Iran was being governed by real Iranians concerned with our national interests and territorial integrity in the first place then no entity would dare attempt to infringe upon our culture, history and territorial integrity.
We urge google earth to correct these errors, and to apologize to the nation of Iran for damaging our national culture and heritage in addition to our territorial integrity.

Is this for real?
I guess they have nothing better to do.

This is one of the dumbest position papers ever. Some call it Persian Gulf, some call it Arabian Gulf; neither implies ownership anymore than Mexico owns the Gulf of Mexico. Past the territorial limits, the Gulf is international waters.
Is Lake Saint Clare a “Great lake”?
Just rename it to Bush Gulf and be done with it.
I say that we compromise and call it the Jewish Gulf...
After all, the sign of a good compromise is that it aggitates both parties equally...;)
For kicks I then typed in Caspian Sea and that worked fine, zoomed right in. Something is screwy to say the least.
Before the Islamic republic the persian gulf was used by its correct name in all the school books and maps.
Due to their incompetence Arabs are taking advantage and misusing one of the oldest names in mankinds history
No. The Great Lakes are:
This position is small potatoes compared to the Map Maker’s Union local #112 (MMU #112)incident that successfully derailed North Korea’s attempt to rename The Sea of Japan to “The Sea of the Most Favored, Hallowed and Fruitful as a Mother’s Womb led by the Glorious, Revered, Great Comrade Kim Jong Il Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”.
No, but Lake Champlain was for a short time when Leaky Leahy sneaked in a line into Senate Bill 927 in 1998 declaring it to be so to get more federal money for it.

What makes the Great Slave lake so great?

Hey! No short jokes! Can I help it if I'm the son of a jockey! (Just kidding about banning short jokes), I'm 5'5", tall enough to be a Naval Officer, even by the old standards.
Are both Arabian and Persian names in the Persian Gulf and if so which is the first or top name. Or is the Arabian you saw the Arabian sea nearby?
Checked a bunch of old globes I have to see if any had any thing other then Persian Gulf and I couldn't find any. Will now go to Google after I post my comment and check on it.
Just went to Google, After I got the globe turned around, I centered in on the spot. Fortunately wasn't to good on centering. When it was toward the bottom of page it showed both names with Persian on top, when I centered the Gulf on the page it showed just Persian Gulf. Maybe there's a software flaw in the system, would like to know, but I've spent enough time on this to go back and play with it.
King Kwamie, of oourse!
Speaking of which, did you hear the one about the 'Acadamy graduate with the big belt buckle and the small ****'?
Not for mixed company, so I dare not post it.
