U.S. Diplomat Accused of Pressuring Visa Applicants for Sex
Fox News ^ | February 15, 2008 | AP

Posted on 02/16/2008 8:12:25 AM PST by khnyny

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia — A U.S. Foreign Service officer stationed in Brazil and Congo used his status to pressure female visa applicants for sex, according to federal charges.

Gons G. Nachman, 42, is charged in U.S. District Court with misuse of his diplomatic passport, making false statements and possessing child pornography. The charges were unsealed Friday.

Nachman was ordered jailed pending a detention hearing scheduled for Tuesday. Court records reflect that a defense lawyer has not yet been appointed.

According to the affidavit, Nachman made a habit of pressuring and pursuing sexual relationships with attractive female visa applicants while stationed in Rio de Janeiro.

Two applicants interviewed by federal agents said Nachman "persistently pursued these female applicants despite his position as U.S. Vice Consul who was personally handling these still pending immigration visa cases."

One of the women told agents that Nachman "took advantage of her and he instructed her that, if questioned, she should deny knowing him personally."

Nachman admitted to having sexual relationships with two women, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit also says that Nachman helped a woman from the Congo file a false refugee application with the Brazilian government so she could work for Nachman while he was stationed in Rio de Janeiro.

While she was employed by him, the woman said Nachman made her film and photograph his sexual encounters with women, some as young as 15, in late 2006 and early 2007.

Also, agents filed a search warrant for items Nachman had shipped to the Port of Baltimore and found videotapes of Nachman with sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old Congolese girl in 2004, when he was assigned to the Congo. Agents tracked down the girl and interviewed her; she confirmed she was 17 at the time the tape was made.

I don’t think the charges against this perv go far enough. Does the government do any vetting whatsoever of these asshats??

Is the same guy? LOL. Unbelievable.

http://media.www.dailypennsylvanian.com/media/storage/paper882/news/1995/04/18/Resources/Nudists.Strip.Down.For.Cause-2177956.shtml

(from 1995)

Nudists strip down for cause

A student group decided to bare the naked truth on College Green yesterday. Literally.

In a demonstration in favor of nudity as a form of expression, four members of the Naturist Student Association stripped in front of the Peace Symbol.

Speaking in front of television cameras and in the buff, Association President and third-year Law Student Gons Nachman, explained the Naturist platform.

“Nudity does not have to be sexual. It is very positive, very wholesome, and very natural,” he said. “We feel a strong connection to our planet and to other creatures that were born naked like ourselves.

“We also enjoy a certain amount of freedom from embarrassment — from having to worry about our looks without shame,” he added.

Although many members of the organization chose not to bare it all for the public yesterday, Nachman said the demonstration was necessary to correct the myths that nude exhibitions create a public disturbance.

“After a while, people just went about their business on the Green,” Nachman said.

Hey, it's just about sex. It's not like these Third Worlders are people or anything. Moveon.org.

It's not like it isn't an abundant commodity that one has to compel people who are pretty much at one's mercy to have sex with them.

He'll be in prison soon enough, particularly over the child pornography charges. Justice one way or the "other", I'm thinking.

The State Dept if full of worthless bureaucrats.

When I was in the Pentagon, they accused the military of trying to "take over the world" on a daily basis.

Then, they would pound the phone on their desks if they didn't get what they wanted.

I never encountered such children in any other agency.

The difference between the US and the UN is that Nachman is going to have the book thrown at him and wind up going to jail for a long, long time. When the “UN Peacekeepers” do the same thing, they are suspended for a week and then promoted.

Letting federal bureaucrats decide who is eligible for visas and citizenship in general seems completely contrary to the small government bent underpinning many of the posts on FR. The world is full of examples of embassy staffers taking bribes of all sorts when considering granting permission to come to the US.

For a Foggy Bottom employee, he is arguably one of the less objectionable pervs on the payroll.

He seems to be heterosexual, not the usual poofter.

While he seems to like to screw young females, one can argue he can’t at the same time screw the taxpayers.

Yes, I know that is small comfort, indeed. However, one learns to be grateful for small things when dealing with goobers in the Gooberment.

I’d close with the old curse, “A pox upon him!” - but that would likely be redundant, given the subject and his known behaviors.

On second thought, I have an idea. Let’s just shut down Foggy Bottom. By now, land prices have climbed and the Feds could use the land sales monies to reduce the national debt.

I can dream, can’t I?

Well, I guess if you mean heterosexual in the sense he only dealt with little “girl” pornography. Read the story a little more closely on the charges. The guy is a freak and needs to be, well, shot. Whoops. I’m sorry, I mean rehabbed since it works sooooooooooo well.

This is nothing really new for the State Department, which has been riddled with all sorts of corruption for decades. The only surprise here is that he’s been named publicly, and not quietly reassigned somewhere else.

State is easily the most corrupt of all the Cabinet departments, stemming mainly from its determination to acquiesce completely to the host government wherever there are US embassies and consulates. The unusual thing here is that an American is victimizing citizens of the host country, rather than being complicit in fraud schemes of every sort.

I suspect in a day or two, this will no longer be news, and it’s business as usual.

So if he has an “Esq” after his name and he is 42 now, he would have been 29 when he was going nudist on the lawn at UPenn in 1995, which prolly means he was about to graduate from law school at the time. It was just under 4 years too early for a prospective employer to Google the guy. Not that public nudity is any bar to the bar these days.

In DC before leaving for Brazil, he took samba lessons, claiming "I'm going to work in Brazil in May...And, I think it's a wonderful way to introduce myself to the country."

From 2003 to 2005, he was hangin' with U.N. peacekeepers in Central Africa, taking pictures of "displaced people", "traditional and modern Congolese dancers" as well as "children." Maybe those U.N. peacekeepers showed him the ropes.

As of '02, his name appeared on the Inactive membership roster of the Florida Bar Journal.

In May, 2000, he was published in the Miami New Times applauding Janet Reno for ordering the capture of Elian Gonzalez. In fact, his letter to the editor appealed directly to the Clinton Attorney General: "Janet Reno, you are welcome at my Miami home anytime."

A KRT Wire Service photo dated Nov 27, 1997, and captioned "Herald Gons Nachman, foreground, relaxes on the clothing optional beach at Miami-Dade's Haulover Beach, was "recently removed from our collection", according to HighBeam Research, a photo research aggregation site.

While in Kinshasa, he was with the "U.S. Stars Soccer Team" of the American Embassy against the U.S. Embassy team from Brazzaville, but was listed as "not having gone to Brazza." [n'est pas allé à Brazza.]

In a nudism site unsuitable for family viewing on FR, our boy is pictured in 1993 full frontal — except for one naughty bit — promoting his University of Pennsylvania Naturist Student Association. "Nude Student Association began in 1993 after Gons Nachman, then a first-year student at Penn Law School, staged a nude demonstration in defense and demonstration of freedom of expression for the school's First Amendment Day", the article says. According to this source, Nachman was damned with faint praise upon graduation, "receiving honors as 'most memorable student' of his graduating class for his naturist work."

In-process them in an Ellis Island sorta way. Collect identification, e.g. photographs, fingerprints, DNA swab; medical examine them; and, have them pay a fee/price high enough to control the amount that want to enter from getting out-of-hand. The folks willing to go through that and pay to boot ... we can’t have enough. Except for the fee & DNA, that’s how my folks entered in the early 1960s.
