You'll notice many of those are blue states...

This is perhaps even more frightening:

I just got an email from a friend and it is called “ Turn the Other Cheek”. Maybe some have seen this article which is supposed to be written by an ex Muslim called Tim. In the article it goes on to site the organizations listed in this post. Additionally it goes on to state the plan which will take years to do. It will use all our American ways against us..our kindness, gullibility etc...move in next to us, befriend us etc but in the end Jhiad will win out. The plan is to establish themselves as moderate, well like muslim neighbors and we learn to trust us but they will stab us in the back first chance.
And here we have the long list of Muslims runing for office. Are any of them vetted? Oh yes...they plan to marry into caucasian families to disguise their intent.
The world better wake up to the goal of some of these people. I don[’t lay this against all people of muslim philosophy..but frankly who can you trust?

You bring up a good point. I have a friend that recently converted to Islam (or reverted to Islam if you believe what they teach) and I asked him the same question....how can you endorse a religion that condones slavery for infidels?

I never really got a good answer.

Wow! It is very mind-blowing indeed.

People I met in New York who had converted to any of the many Muslim groups active among blacks there seemed to be able to believe a large number of impossible things before breakfast. All these catch-phrases and distortions and downright fancies seemed to get into their heads and roll around, and what came out was something that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. But somehow it made them feel powerful.

I think one of the unfortunate things is that many blacks let their entire lives turn into an obsessive hatred of whites - and I can certainly understand why this might be a temptation, particularly among older blacks who experienced segregation -with the result that their lives began to focus exclusively on seeking some way of “getting back” at whites. Essentially, this is what becoming Muslim means to them: they’re getting revenge on whites, particularly since they are often members of Muslim groups that are even wackier than the standard Saudi model. But talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!

I think it’s part of a desire to “get back” at whites, and doesn’t really have to make any sense or have any historical foundation. Also, in most cases, those who previously attended a theoretically Christian church attended one of those highly politicized, race-focused social-welfare agency type churches, and therefore they didn’t really see any conflict in going over to Islam. And as for history - well, most of them are products of the public school system, and we all know what respect for history they will have learned there!

Some Europeans jumped at what they found as a nice source of profit. But the Pope argued against it and forbade it in South America, and English Protestants finished that job.

That's a lovely story, but utter garbage. Slavery wasn't outlawed in Brazil until 1888, and last time I checked Brazil was and is a Catholic country.

You are wrong and Cicero is right. The Popes have denounced slavery since the 15th century. Since the Pope does not himself exercise military authority over world events, individual Catholics, and even local dioceses, do not always obey. What you're saying is the equivalent of denying that the Church has a history of denouncing abortion, citing as evidence that abortion has been practiced in many countries that are predominantly Catholic. You're uninformed, and you owe Cicero an apology for your "garbage" talk.

I found this—among many other references to the same information—on first click when I punched "Pope forbade slavery new world" on google. It's an article in a liberal Catholic newspaper. The money quote:

"In 1462 Pope Pius II declared slavery an 'enormous crime' (magnum scelus).

In 1537 Pope Paul III forbade the enslavement of native people in the New World.

Pope Urban VIII forbade slavery again in 1639.

Pope Benedict XIV condemned slavery in 1741.

Pope Pius VII demanded the Congress of Vienna suppress the slave trade in 1815.

Pope Gregory XVI condemned the slave trade in 1839.

In the bull canonizing Jesuit St. Peter Claver in 1888, Pope Pius IX branded the slave trade summum nefas or 'supreme villainy.'

Pope Leo XIII sent out the encyclical In Plurimism on the abolition of slavery in 1888, ordering Brazilian bishops to abolish slavery.

Most of these condemnations, some even threatening excommunication, were ignored. Slaves have been found in Brazil in living memory."

There are a number of aspects that are odd... one of which is that if they study the story of Malcom X they realize that his great revelation was religion should not be about race.

One of the real ironies with my Islamic plumber is that while I was horrified that a fellow Baptist practically from my neighborhood could wind up in the same Mosque as the Georgia Tech wannabe terrorists... he apparently felt like I treated him better than any other Christian and he made a point to always respond whenever I had any plumbing problems.

In some ways, its a really screwed up world.

The Popes denounced slavery, but don't pretend then -- as Cicero did -- that they abolished it, when they were ignored for three hundred years.

Alter Kaker: The Popes denounced slavery, but don't pretend then -- as Cicero did -- that they abolished it, when they were ignored for three hundred years.

"Pretend"? Your response, like your previous statement, is ill-considered and makes no sense. Cicero's statement was true. Read the words, read the historical record. The simplest thing to do when you're wrong is to admit it and move on.

Do you think we’ll ever “run out of them”? Or are we now condemned to traitors/seditionists/saboteurs like them, forever?
