Albanian Triumph, Serb Anger as Kosovo Secedes
The New York Times ^ | February 17, 2008 | N/A

PRISTINA (Reuters) - Kosovo Albanians will proclaim independence from Serbia on Sunday, ending a long chapter in the bloody breakup of Yugoslavia but cementing a bitter ethnic frontline in the Balkans.

Kosovo will be the 6th state carved from the Serb-dominated federation since 1991, after Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Montenegro, and the last to escape Serbia's embrace.

The Serbs vow never to give up the land where their history goes back 1,000 years.

They will reject independence in defiance of the Albanians and their Western backers and will keep their grip on strongholds in northern Kosovo, making the ethnic partition of the new state a reality from the start.

President George W. Bush said the United States, which has 1,700 troops in Kosovo's NATO-led peacekeeping force of 16,000, would work with its allies to make sure there was no violence.

"The United States will continue to work with our allies to do the very best we can to make sure there's no violence," he said during a visit to Tanzania. Bush added that he was heartened by the Kosovo government's proclaimed willingness to support Serbian rights.

Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said on Saturday: "The success of Kosovo's independence as a new beginning will be clearly measured by respect for the rights of minorities, especially Serbs."

""War on Terror," my @ss. This country is building an empire, and we really don't give a sh!t if that involves the outright persecution of Christians on behalf of Muslims."

I think that you are right -- except it isn't "an Empire" for America; it is "Two Empires" for globalists like Soros to exploit.

The US was the biggest supporter of an EU. Why? Because "one voice of Europe" is easier to deal with the the multiple voices of individual countries. The EU is run by a handful of elite.

And the US? Well, how come Clinton, Obama and McCain, all have Soros' hand up their backside? And Soros may be the guy we know about, how much you want to bet that there are more "Soroses" whose names we do not know?

This globalist elite will trample Christians without a second thought -- and will do the same to you & me when they get the chance. The US is being used by these people -- and they will just as easily and without conscience, carve up and then throw America away when they are done with it, too. And we are letting them.

The only man who is standing up to Soros has been Putin. And look how the non-Russian press trashes him! Yes, Soros is in a great position of power now — but with McCain at least you get a domestic conservative. With Obama you’ll get a globalist who will dine with Odinga and company.

By the way, Obama campaigned for Odinga in Kenya a couple of years back — why doesn’t Odinga come over and bring some of his supporters? Love to see the faces of some of these empty-headed campus types when they’d meet up with these cuddly types.

With McCain, you get a guy who made his bones nationally by killing Christians to please Muslims. I don’t see much difference today among the candidates, Soros, the Muslim agenda and globalists own Clinton, Obama & McCain. They are just different flavors of the same crap, designed to make it look like we have “a choice” when all the horses have the same owners.

and the resultant bloodshed will be the dragon's teeth offspring of Bill Clinton's decision (And Bush's failure to reverse it).

Bush didn't merely "fail to reverse" it, he wholehearted EMBRACED Kosovo independence. So much so that they welcomed him as a national hero in Albania. World gone mad.

Any side the Russians are against is the right side, as long as they are giving nukes to Ahmadinejad.

Screw the bloody serbs and the horse they rode in on. I don't support people who actually shoot at Americans, and anyone who does is no patriot.

>>Isn’t it peculiar how there is no outcry from the left in the United States about its mission as it drags into its second decade with troops at risk and with no UN mandate. The UN will not even be able to recognize the new “country.”<<

I thought we were doing this under NATO.

"I thought we were doing this under NATO."

My point. You are correct -NATO/EU, not the UN. The Clintons, the Left in the US and too much of the Center state that action is only legitimate if done under UN auspices. Except, when the US couldn't get UN support and now can't get UN approval to recognize Kosovo, we plough ahead anyway. We had the perfect out to limit the damage of Bubba's war, but we are determined to establish a Muslim, terrorist mini-state in Europe and lay the foundation for future wars as the Albanians fight for a piece of the surrounding states to create a Greater Albania, as well as encouraging other separatism movements such as the Basques in Spain.
