PRISTINA, Kosovo -- Kosovo's parliament declared the territory a nation on Sunday, mounting a historic bid to become an "independent and democratic state" backed by the U.S. and European allies but bitterly contested by Serbia and Russia.....

For awhile, anyway.
I suspect Russia will have something to say on the topic before the week is over.
I just know hearing this will make your day.
:-)
I have come to believe that this type of activity is no mistaken or wrong headed rather is is a deliberate act against the best interests of the west. And dare I say Russia?
Putin can pound sand.
It's sickening to see that British troops are being called up to defend this terrorist foothold in the new Caliphate.
no=not sigh.
Man up, Putin. Send in the troops. Do the right thing.
Dark clouds on the horizon.
I agree.
Pray for the Serbs of Kosovo. They’ll need it.
Sometimes I just shake my head at the USA foreign policy.
We're seeing the remnant effects of Clinton globalism and anti-Westernism.
At the time it happened I did not understand that Albania was essentially Ottoman. I knew that Albania had a fair number of Muslims, but they did in fact look "secular". That probably had more to do with Communism and even Turkish secularism, so it probably won't last long. The Burkhas will be mandatory soon, and the Christians should just draw a little line on their necks where the axe will hit. I'm sure Thaci has lots of plans to avenge Srebrenitsa.
I never thought I’d be cheering for Putin. What a crazy world we live in.
A study by Austro/Hungarian Peter Kukulj,of Kosovo, showed in 1871.
64% Serbs. 32% Albanians with 10,000 Roma.
Further Austrian statistics in 1899.
47.80% Albanians. 43.7% Serbs. 8% others.
Today figures of the Serb population in Kosovo, are between only 7% and at most 10%.
The United Nations is useless. If it's moguls cannot see ethnic cleansing, then it is as useless as the old League of Nations. Time for it to go.
The story is not over yet, Dhimmi.
Wait ‘till that “foreign policy” gets applied to Aztlan.
That's the plan.
As you can see most all conservatives on Free Republic do not support the terroristic mafia land grab of the ethnic Albanians.
Nor are those on Free Republic fans of the ethnic Albanians who are notorious for their drug smuggling, human trafficking, theft and violence all over Europe.
P.S. I notice on your page you are a fan of the Apollo mission. Bet you didn't know that Serbian engineers were involved in that program and I doubt there were any ethnic Albanians at all.

"Standing in front of Apollo 11 are some of the Serbian scientists who participated in the success of this program. From left to right: Slavoljub Vujic, production coordinator, Petar Gajic, engineer, Danilo Bojic, engineer who redesigned the escape hatch after the Apollo disaster, Milojko Vucelic, recepient of the Freedom Award for his work on Apollo, Milisav Surbatovic, chief engineer on Apollo who served in the Royal Serbian Air Force, Petar Galovic, engineer and David Vuich, director of public relations, North American Aviation that became Rockwell International."
Clinton foreign policy that Bush somehow neglected to reverse. Maybe it was just too late. Maybe he had some other reason. Time may tell but in any case a huge mistake.
By supporting the ethnic Albanians and their ways you are supporting a people opposite to those you admire, including those who wrote America's Declaration of Independence.
The Albanians have shown no justice, honesty or even the most basic rights for non-Albanians. Albania and how it is run not a country to be admired or imitated. You essentially support another country just like that. What good does it do for human kind?
The Serbs gave the U.S. Nikola Tesla and many fine engineers who have patents on such things as IBM supercomputers.
By supporting destruction of the Serbs and expansion of thieving, drug running, relatively unaccomplished people you support primitivism and nothing to do with what you admire in the U.S.
Not much of a comfort, but CBC News World (Canada) had the usual bright breezy young woman describing the "new flag" of Kosovo. Showing the scenes there. One is reminded of the "ethnic cleansing" brigade on CBC television during the Nato crimes. Then a voice went to the Conservative government and it's position. They are waffling fast. The minority government which could easily brought down in a parliamentary vote, does not want to touch this one.
As of now, the betting is that frantic "experts" are being called in. This before a grand official statement on the Canadian position.
The threat of a sleeping separatist movement in Quebec is what scares 'em. Billions paid to buy Quebec off (IMHO). One can imagine our government saying.
Oh no, not again!
It sickens me to have to agree with Putin, but I wish he would send troops in. Then again, the time to have done so was when Yeltsin was in power and Clinton and Wes Clark were conducting their immoral war against Serbia.
So the Kurds have no state. The “Palestinians” have no state (thank goodness). But the Albanians get TWO states??? Shocking that the United States would put its imprimatur on such utter madness.
Their politics are the politics of grievance. And to them, not allowing the troglodyte Muslims to take over major parts of the Earth and subjugate the inhabitants is an aggrievance.
The UN building in NY should be demolished for urban renewal and the petty thugs who inhabit it should be run out of town but only after they pay their parking tickets. Or else jail the SOB's.
Separatism is effectively dead in Quebec.
It peaked in the late70s/early 80s; the new generation genuinely wants to be part of Canada.
I'd forgotten about Quebec. And are the metis still around?? Plus, lst's remember The Kurds, The South Ossetians, the Basques, the Bretons and the Muslim minorities in China's far west, to name but a few.
There’s a big difference between saying something and implementing it. They have done their lip-service before and then went on the bomb more Serb monasteries.
Excellent point. And we know that assertion's almost as truthful as McCain's that he really is a conservative.
Good point. So if Greater Albania keeps expanding north due to its population pressure, will the U.S. and Britain demand that the locals throw up their arms, surrender to Islam, knock down all the churches and build Mosques?
Gee, let's see....there's another country near here with a population problem, that keeps pushing their people North, into land they claim....I wonder...no, couldn't be, could it?
Oh yes it could.
Oh no, I believe them!
The right to kneel before the Muslim Caliph and beg for mercy, the right to pay Jizya, the right to convert or be killed.
Call it the Muslim Bill of Rights for the Damnable Dhimmis!
I know how and why clinton got us on the wrong side of this tragedy, what I don’t understand is why President Bush stayed there.
The only ones the Serbs have to fear is us. They could handle the muslim wetbacks if they were left to do so.
I hope Russia undermines this crime.
I have been hearing pleasant sounding news reports all day as though a persecuted country won it's hard fought for freedoms instead of another instance of muslim trash assaulting the west.
Regards
Remember this from a few years back? http://www.break.com/index/kosovo.html
—A rather large part of me wishes that maybe Russia would do a little more than talk.—
Megadittos big time on this, my friend. If the Russians are feeling their oats militarily, now is the time for them to step up. Actually, they should have stepped up earlier back when Clinton/Blair began their unprovked war of aggression against Yugoslavia back in 1999. Introduction of Russian paratroopers to the Pristina airport was a good move, but too late. Introduction of a squadron or 2 of MiG-29s would have prevented the savage NATO bombing campaign before it ever got off the ground (pun intended). NATO behaved like a typical schoolyard bully, picking on weak Serbia, but was no doubt terrified of the Russian colossus, just as it was even more terrified of the Soviet colossus of years past.
Bush has repeatedly made clear that he thinks there is no threat in Muslim hegemony. He went to Turkey prior to the last round of EU admission talks and declared that "I don't believe in this clash of civilizations stuff". I watched him say it on TV in France; in Europe, people were shocked.
If there is any political calculation here, it is appeasement of the Sauds, and an effort to get them to agree to the legitimacy of Israel.
The two situations are not congruent, but you get the notion.
Bush has no problem with Islamic states. He just established one in Iraq. I think he actually believes they can be moderate and modern; maybe he thinks a Muslim Unitarianism will eventually come to pass. Outwardly, Attaturk Turkey looked like that, but the truth is that it is re-Muslimizing quickly and the secular protections will evaporate.
There's no such thing as a moderate Muslim. It's a belief system that does not tolerate that, and always leads to fanaticism. As such, it is a vehicle for political domination, which is what it was started for.
Thus it cannot ever be tolerated in the West.
As a poster on another thread said to me, "Islam is a political system in religious drag".
—Wrong. The Kosovo Parliament has already said it will protect the rights of the Serbian minority.—
If you believe anything those Muzzies have to say, I’ve got some oceanfront property in Manitoba I’ll sell you really cheap! Seriously, Kosovo is the wellspring of the Serbian people; the Albanians are basically johnny-come-lately squatters introduced there by the Turkish invader. For the Serbs to lose Kosovo is like Israeli Jews giving up Jerusalem to Hamas, or Texans giving the Alamo back to Mexico.
It wasn't the Serbs who made Kosovo Judenfrei, Dhimmi.

Yeah, and the Jihadist are the Religion of Peace!

My opinion here only, in an answer. From what I observe, the Metis trying very hard to sort out any problems within their people. To digress- for a chuckle, we had the Department of Fisheries charge two men locally. They had fished over the limit. They claimed Metis status. One was a 64th Metis and the other 128th Metis. They won.
It is the "First Nations" status for the Indian (no,no word) population that has caused some problems. In Southern Ontario, a whole nice little town-Caledonia, has been under siege for over a year. Land claims. Police stand by, haunted by an inquiry, over a man shot by police over 15 years ago, during native violence against military property. Citizens assaulted, bridge burned and power station vandalized.
A third of tobacco taxes lost to the government by smuggling cigarettes on to "First Nations" land. (By New York State). What a carry on! (wry chuckle).
Send in the Russian troops to do what? Fight NATO and kill Americans?
