Fred Thompson's supposed lukewarm backing of McCain has not been widely reported. No video or audio was provided. Did it actually happen?

Those people who are claiming "victory" because they predicted Fred Thompson would "drop out and back McCain" are ridiculous. IF Fred Thompson backed McCain, he did it only after the nomination was inevitable.

Get over it. He endorsed McCain, and this wasn’t the first time. He endorsed McCain in 2000 and backed his infamous campaign finance reform legislation too. Thompson likes McCain. Don’t hide yourself from the truth.

At this point, he is right. Few expected this outcome and the old expression of making lemonade out of lemons is what we have.
The horror the democrats will inflict is far worse then aything a rino can do.
And I hope that Fred will consider VP and McCain is smart enough to ask.
Fred would calm some conservative nerves and hopefully keep a leash on the rino, or at least be able to whisper in his ear reminders of all the conserative boasts he has been making.

"Thompson = Bum" Please list your personal accomplishments so that we may compare them with Senator Fred Thompson's. Translation: We need a good laugh.

Fred said at the outset of his campaign that he would support the Republican nominee.

He endorsed McCain in 2000He did more than that. He joined McCain's campaign as national co-chairman in 1999.

Picking Fred for his VP would help to distance himself from the gang of fourteen. My fear is McInsane is not savvy enough and will pick Graham (R. SC) and fan the flames of the anarchy-14 memories in Conservative Republican circles. McCain may be a bulldog, but he’s not very smart or savvy.

Fred said he would back McCain, because it looks as though he’ll be the nominee, and that Republicans need to rally around the nominee in order to keep the Democrats out of the White House.

So what?
Eight years is a lifetime in politics. And McCain was a lot more stable and conservative back then.

I don’t know who these people are who are claiming victory.
I credit Fred Thompson for withholding his support for McCain until it was clear he would be the nominee.
But I don’t think there is any doubt that Fred Thompson told people it was time to support McCain, even though it was not widely covered.

You must love punishment.
“If you’d like to disparage me in the manner I deserve
but know I am not worth the risk of suspension
then you may act out here”
Let’s just say you speak from the wrong hole.
