Carter was the worst by far and I voted for the jerk the first time.

Clinton was second worst because he taught kids that his kind sex is not really sex. He took away the kids innocence by not stepping down right away and making lying the in thing with democrats and kids.

Buchanan, Carter, Harding, LBJ, and Hoover have to be the top 5

"Either Obama or Hillary will be worse than all three of these."

I pray it doesn't come to that.

While LBJ (Great Society),
Jimmy C (Mr Giveaway) and
Billary (I’m not even going there, it would take a book) are interesting choices, they are *pikers*.

Try President
Warren G. Harding (Teapot Dome, surrounded himself with rot)

Consider Franklin Pierce (set in place precursors to the worst war we ever fought?)

Who can forget the lying Scoalist Franklin D. Roosevelt? (OMG - Social InSecurity, fed Reserve, on and on)

ALso, the strange James Buchanan, who set off or made possible the Civil War (War of Northern Aggression, OK?)

So, while in recent memory we have had our share of loooooooosers (Nixon comes to mind) they can’t hold a candle to these more historic types..... And we survived as a Nation from all the evil, rot and corruption brought by these bad fellows.

Enjoy the Hoilday, we have earned it!

Why is FDR not included as one of the three worst Presidents? After all, FDR trashed 10th A. state powers. As a consequence, we now have a federal government that is not operating within the constraints of the Constitution, particularly where unauthorized federal spending is concerned.

This post (<-click), while addressing a tax-related thread, explains why misguided, spending-happy federal politicians, especially Democrats, are foolishly following in the footsteps of FDR's dirty federal spending politics.

And this post (<-click) attempts to explain how FDR's 10th A.-ignoring establishment of New Deal federal spending programs like Social Security have led to ongoing social unrest concerning state issues like abortion. Note that the post first references two non-abortion cases to show how renegade majority justices have essentially been ignoring the 10th A. since the days of FDR's dirty politics.

Johnson-a Democrat who ran with Lincoln on the National Union ticket-had the problem of pissing off the extremists in both parties. Johnson wanted to follow Lincoln’s vision; some hard-core re-construction folks in the Republican party didn’t, and from there things went downhill fast.

Oddly enough, although he was nearly impeached by the senate, when Johnson returned to the Seante in 1874 he was greatly welcomed back.

Three good choices for the worst. Should also add Clinton, Nixon, Ford and the two Bushes. Leave space for Clinton II or Obama or McCain.

And why did you do that?

Carter. Clinton. Then a toss-up between LBJ, FDR and Wilson. I’d probably choose Wilson.

Wilson should be pretty high on a list of worst presidents too.

In ten years maybe lees Bush jr. will be relegated in there somewhere.. He single handly fractured the republican party.. To thge extent that probably the Clintons slimed the White House again.. Someone needs to hook a generator to Vice Fosters body moulding in the grave..

Course Obama could make Jimmy Carter less distasteful..

I agree that FDR should be on the list but you can’t blame him for the Fed. The Federal Reserve Act was passed in 1913, as was the Income Tax, in the Wilson years.

My top 3 worst (judged, through total legacy, by net departure from the great nation set in motion by America's founders):

1. Woodrow Wilson
2. FDR
3. LBJ

Lincoln is my 4th worst pick. Potentially ruinous failed presidential candidates include Hubert Humphrey and Henry A. Wallace. As bad as it was, American patriots should be forever thankful that neither Humphrey (as a rat) or Wallace (carrying FDR's torch under the "Progressive Party" banner) failed to gain traction.

Carter was a dismal failure, an embarrassment to the office and the nation, and he continued to take a dump on America well after leaving office. Worst of my lifetime, but his lack of any "successes" (of 'New Deal' size, scope, or longevity) will mean that his inept reign will ultimately be relegated to a brief mention in 5th grade history lessons, and discussions among political junkies.

The Republican party gave President Bush a lot of help by destroying itself.

“Nixon was the worst Republican President.”

Road apples.

In the words of Lynard Skynard, “Watergate does not bother me.”

If I were back in that time, and John Dean said, “Break into the demonrat office in the Watergage and steal the documentary proof that they are treating prospective donors to the services of prostitutes,” I would gladly and proudly undertake that righteous operation.

I only hope I’d be smart enough to get away with it.

Number 3 ... L. B. Johnson for not continuing to prosecute the war.

Number 2 ... Jimmy (Peanut) Carter, an honest man who didn't know what he was doing.

And the absolute worst President EVER ... William Jefferson BLYTHE Clinton,
an absolute criminal who knew exactly what he was doing, and only cared about himself.

1. Lincoln
2. FDR
3. Truman

Clinton and Carter were Boy Scouts compared to those guys.

He sat idle as the furor of the situation spiraled out of control, naively believing that the Constitution did not give the president power to act against seceders.

Buchanan rightly believed that the Constitution was a voluntary association of sovereign states. If this author is to be believed, Buchanan was bad because he wasn't eager enough to start the bloodiest war in American history! What nonsense.
