President Obama: Fulfillingness’ First Finale
Human Events ^ | 2/20/08 | D. R. Tucker

Posted on 02/20/2008 1:49:11 AM PST by MartinaMisc

Since a Barack Obama victory in November seems to be as inevitable now as Bill Clinton’s re-election was in 1996, it behooves conservatives to try to find a positive aspect to an Obama win. Clinton’s re-election was depressing for those of us who thought his perfidy would only be confined to one term, but there was a huge bright spot: the Lewinsky scandal, a carnival of chaos that damaged the Democrats’ reputation and directly led to George W. Bush’s 2000 defeat of Al Gore.

While President Obama will not give us conservative judges, strength in the War on Terror, limited taxation, the preservation of the unborn child’s right to exist or a reduction in the size of government, he will give us something we’ve been looking forward to for years: the destruction of the American victimization industry.

An Obama win will not mean that racism is dead in the United States; racism, like communism, socialism or any other extremist ideology, will always exist on some level in this country. However, an Obama victory will be indisputable proof that racism has declined in America—a point that conservatives have been making for the past three decades.

The right has long argued that, contrary to the over-the-top claims of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, things have improved dramatically for people of color in this country, and that we have moved beyond the seemingly insurmountable hatreds of the pre-civil rights era. Thanks to the work of many courageous men and women (including the conservative Republicans who made the 1964 Civil Rights Act a reality), nonwhites can now take full advantage of the greatness of America.

Obama-McCain is going to be close. They’re close in polls.

Not that I like McCain, but geez, “inevitable”?

No, an Obama victor will not stop the racism card, it will just mean the likes of Al and Jessie, will now say it has just started to decline. Besides why give up the fight to Marxist

Nuts.
There is no way Obama will carry any “red states” over McCain.
And I think if Obama keeps quoting people like Malcolm X, and if his wife keeps talking about how she’s never been proud of her country, then a lot of “blue states” will suddenly become in play for McCain.

I think we’ll see a more traditional Republican sweep like we saw in 1988. Bush Sr. vs. Dukakis will probably serve as a pretty good marker. In a year people will look back at the prospect of Obama becoming president as a joke.

Of course we cannot count out Hillary hijacking the nomination at the convention. The Clintons have a lot of dirt on a lot of Democrats, and I think the Don will make a few offers that many super-delegates can’t refuse...

Ridiculous. Jesse and Al and company will just change their line to "How come African Americans BUILT this country yet only ONE person of color has ever been president?"

They'll simply change the framing of the racism charge, and this way, it will literally take CENTURIES until things are "equal".

Wrong. Wait until you see the turnout of young people and many who have never voted before. Wait until you see McCain standing beside Obama in a debate. McCain ain't going to inspire anyone to vote for him.

He frightens me more than the ‘Cackler’. With the likes of Moveon and other big money Leftists, the damage they could do in 4 short years could be devastating.

They will complain just as they did about Romney and the LDS - it took too long. If Obama is elected, things will get worse in many ways. Picture a President Dinkins.

I’m sure Jim Jones had an appeal to his followers, too. It didn’t turn out too well for them, either. Whoever coined the term ‘Sheeple’ was spot on.

“Young people”.
That’s crazy talk. The youth vote is about 15% of the electorate every election. It has held true through this year’s Democrat primaries too. The interesting thing about the “youth vote” is that it pretty well tracks to general population trends in terms of turnout. It also is not nearly as monolithic as the media and Democrats would like to believe.
