Penn: Hillary Will Mount a Commander-In-Chief Offensive
National Review Online ^ | February 20, 2008 | Byron York

Posted on 02/20/2008 10:50:20 AM PST by kingattax

On a conference call, top strategist Mark Penn just told reporters that in the next two weeks Hillary Clinton will go after Barack Obama on the issue of who is better qualified to be commander-in-chief — and Penn suggested that Clinton would be a better commander of the nation's armed forces than both Obama and John McCain. "She is the only person in this race who is both ready to be commander-in-chief and would end the Iraq war and start to bring troops home within 60 days, compared to both Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain," Penn told reporters.

Later, Penn made it clear that Clinton will push the commander-in-chief issue in coming days. "The Republican nominee has extensive credibility in this area, and the Democrat is going to need to be commander-in-chief," Penn said. Obama has "relatively no experience in national security," Penn continued, an issue that "is going to be reflected in the debates that we have over the next couple of weeks."

UPDATE: Later in the call, the Clinton team was asked whether the not-qualified-to-be-commander-in-chief criticism of Obama was going too far, given that it would be used by Republicans against Obama if Obama is the Democratic nominee against John McCain. "We don't believe that he is the one who will face John McCain," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said. "This is a legitimate question that Sen. Obama would face if he were the nominee, and it is a question that he is facing as a result of criticism from Sen. McCain now, so I think it's perfectly appropriate."

Hillary’s surrender plan is superior to Barry’s?

I sure hope she makes the case she would be better Commander in Cheif for our armed forces than John McCain.

I mean, you can’t ask for anything better.

This is like Rosie O’ Donnel starting a campaign to establish she would be the best Ms. America candidate.

Even I have to laugh at that statement. She couldn’t command a maid to change the kitty litter.

CALLING ON ALL REPUBLICANS IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS

Last night Hillery said she was “ready to defeat the Republicans” I say we have a rare opportunity to take her on directly, and take her out.

The state of Texas has open voting. We should all tell/plead/beg our friends and family in Texas to “pimp” ourselves out for one day. Vote Obama and sweep that woman into the dust bin of history.

Here’s our chance republicans - why do you hesitate?

Like it or not, Maverick is our horse. His nomination is sure. Lets use our vote wisely on March 4th and end
this once and for all.

She wants to take on the Republicans huh? I say we should meet her on the battle field of Texas and give her exactly what she wants - a royal butt whipping. I just hope she dont cry again.

Yes, the good thing is that in order to attack each other the dems have to use some republican arguments against each other. But as you see best CIC quickly morphes into “I can lose that war in 90 days” vs “I can lose that war in 60 days”.

She couldn’t command a maid to change the kitty litter.

Maybe that's why she got rid of Sox the cat. The cat that was supposedly a member of the Clinton household. The one she and Bill used as another prop when they thought they needed to show some humanity. What kind of Beast gets rid of a family pet?

If Hillary brings the troops home in 60 days, she signs the death warrants of 10’s of thousands or Iraqi’s who have been loyal to the US. The repercussion of such action will be generations of mis-trust when ever the US says they want to be involved.

she really is going to fight until the end. It’s not just personal. An obama win represents the repudiation of the 8 year clinton record and the moderate DLC approach. They don’t want democrats to go back to carter. Ironically, he also puts a knife in her dream of universal health care.

It ain’t so funny when you consider that she is the only person in the race that the military actually hates. She couldn’t get them to follow her on a bet. Notice that she doesn’t go to their bases any more. In fact does Obama?

Obama quite obviously is not qualified to manage our military, much less our global foreign policy.

I like animals a lot more than most people I have met. I think they way people treat animals says so much about them. How can she throw out a cat? It is just a cat. It is not like she actually took care of it. I’m sure Consuela fed it and changed the litter.

Why doesn’t someone ask Evita how many and which Military/Ex-Military personnel were part of her ‘husband’s’ 2 glorious administrations (those would be the two administrations where Evita herself had such a non-stop, first-rate and hands-on education of the Presidential leadership experience she so often claims) Ask her THAT!!!

I have 2 sons in the marines.

All this talk about not supporting McCain and leaving our country in the hands of Obama or Clinton -just to prove a political point- really makes me nervous.

Freepers...if for nothing else, vote McCain for the troops!
