Heilemann: Clinton to Bring the Hammer Down After Her Wisconsin Drubbing

The final array of implications involves the tenor of the campaign that Clinton will wage between now and the Ohio and Texas primaries on March 4. Over the past few days, her operation has begun to sharpen the “contrasts” between HRC and BHO. Rightly or wrongly, her people simply do not believe they can do much now to change her fundamental message on the positive side: that she’s readier than Obama to assume the presidency on day one; that she’s a fighter for kids and families and for the beleaguered middle class; that she’s someone with a deep knowledge of public policy and that she can deliver. Instead, her people see their main chance as driving home a series of negative messages about Obama: the accusations of rhetorical plagiarism, of his inconsistency between talk and action, of his vacuousness and hypocrisy. One way of looking at Wisconsin, where these messages failed to move the needle much, is that they fell flat. Another way to see things is that the Clintonites started hammering too late and too soft.
Trust me when I tell you that the latter is the view in Clintonland. That they have more arrows in their quiver to fire at Obama, charges they believe will cast doubt on the hopemonger, raising the specter (terrifying to many Democrats) that John McCain and the Republican machine will make mincemeat of him. She’s got to have some kind of polital nuke in her arsenal. I’m not ready to stick a fork in her yet.

Probably won’t work. Once Clinton starts hammering Obama, Obama will respond in kind.
The scary thing is, it might literally be a hammer. Watch your back, Obama.
All she can do is increase her stridency—the primary reason nobody really likes her in the first place.
They aren’t listening, Hillary. Obama has cast a spell on them...
1) The plageurism thing is a non issue
2) The style over substance is big, and they need to hit this hard.
3) They should go after his charachter, especially the hypocrisy of some of his claims (refusing the capaign limits on spending). They have to hammer this, and hammer it hard.
My $.02 is that he has it in the bag. But they can help McCain out by drilling him for the next 3 months...a little early, but somebody needs to knock him down.

Maybe...depends on how they do it. A full frontal assault isn't going to work any better for McCain than it will for Hillary.

I think Hildebeeste is the more evil and less stupid of the pair ... Anyone who could be perceived as "in her way" would be well advised to be very careful.
