Ditto most of this except the only way I’ll watch them again is if:
1. Sampson is fired. (accomplished)
2. All university emplyees who had anything to do with the travesty of firing Knight are gone from IU.
3. They name their bball arena after Knight.
Yes, I remain angry at what was done.
I’m a Knight fan as well. He is a giant in his profession.
I don’t think you will get Dakich after the fiasco with Davis.
I can’t believe IU blundered into the Sampson hire.
The thing with Davis was that he didn’t have any head coaching experience and he was brought to IU as a recruiter, not a coach. He was out of his element as coach.
Dakich, on the other hand, has been a head coach, although not at a big time program. A lot will depend on how Dakich finishes out the season. There is a lot of talent on that team, and if he manages to take them to the Sweet 16, that might do it. Anything else will probably find the Hoosiers looking for another candidate.
If Dakich doesn’t make it, I suspect the Hoosiers will not go the route of an “established” coach this time, though. The only ones that would leave their current jobs will have too much baggage. The next coach will be squeaky clean.
I don’t expect I.U. to bring Knight back. I would love to see him come to a pep rally at say the beginning of next year or something to drive the I.U. world wild but I think he deserves his retirement and a long enjoyable life.
If he backs someone I have to believe the guy to be aces.
Congrats on having a chemistry
B.S., that still didn’t answer any questions.
In answer to your questions. No, I have never coached anything. Furthermore, I’m no expert on refereeing.
Because he was a winning coach with a high graduation rate who never got busted for breaking a recruiting or eligibility rule.
The university and the public for years not only tolerated but celebrated behavior out of Knight, that he ( Knight ) would never have tolerated out of anyone else.
