Inconvenient Fact: Times Sex Scandal Writer's Left-wing Connection
NewsBusters ^

Posted on 02/21/2008 12:13:49 PM PST by RatherBiased.com

As media digest the recent John McCain sex scandal allegations by the New York Times, one side of the story seems destined to get ignored: one of the four co-authors took money from a liberal activist group to fund a hit piece about Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kent.) in 2006.

Before becoming an investigative reporter for the Times, Pulitzer Prize winner Marilyn W. Thompson was editor of the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky... when she was editor of one of the leading newspapers in Kentucky, took money from a liberal activist group to hire a Democrat Congressional Fellow for a hit piece on a leading Republican senator.

This is not going to be good news for the anti-McCain crowd here.

You mean there was a liberal agenda to sling mud on Johhny-boy?

I’m shocked!

I actually think this so-called scandal will help McCain. It will undermine the insinuation that he is “too old” for the Presidency.

You think. I’m anti-McCain and I think it’s good news overall. It says that the “Times” is hiring highly-partisan liberals to do hit pieces on Republicans, basically proving the public notion that they are in the DNC’s hip pocket.

I don't think much of McCain, but I don't need to make up crap about him as to why I don't like him.

Newsflash...

The anti-McCain crowd is anti-McCain because he is a status-quo RINO, not because of his personal life. Status-quo RINOs have ruined the republican party with their panty-waisted hand-wringing over how best to emulate liberals... Many don’t like McCain, but they’re more pro-conservatism than anti-McCain.

This piece in the NYC is idiotic, baseless, and will not stand up to even the slightest scrutiny. It is predictibly ridiculous, but then the NYT is a liberal rag best suited to lining a birdcage rather than serious reporting... so it’s also expected.

Maybe. One thing I've noticed that there isn't a picture of the lady. Must be someone good looking, and would support your theory.

Isn’t the NYT news editor a former Clinton/DNC official? Folks the MSM is absolutely dominated by liberal democrat operatives. Stephanopolous, Mathews, etc.

Letters to editor/New York Times:

letters@nytimes.com

They won’t print your letter but someone there will read it.

McCain’s improper relationship is between himself and the media.

There simply is no intellectually honest rationale for proving that journalism is objective. But there is a way to demonstrate the contrary.

No, its exactly as anticipated.

The NYT props McCain up, then in the next month starts tearing him down. He's always been an easy target, even without the NYT lies.

“This is not going to be good news for the anti-McCain crowd here.”

Why? I despised the man pre-NYT story, I will continue to despise him during and after.

A picture of her on the news. I would post it, but I don’t know how.

C’mon, these are Clintonistas doing this.

I did not see any “sex scandal allegations” in the Times gossip piece. Simply some anonymous persons saying that McCain’s meetings with the lobbyist might create an appearance of impropriety.

Lead article in the Times. At least The Post puts the gossip on page 6, and identifies it as such.

Actually, I’d be surprised if ANY NYT reporter DIDN’T have ties to some left-wing group.
