The World Health Organization has estimated that 3,000 people die in China each day from the effects of smoking.

Piffle.

China probably aborts that many babies per day. So what’s the big deal?

Wow! That's a lot of dying. My friend who went there recently said people greet one another with a cigarette instead of a handshake - strange. I'll bet a lot of those 'smoking deaths' stem from the rampant pollution and the chemicals in the food and air, more than just the cigarettes.

I’ve been there... 350 million must be the goal, not the current number.

The ones that aren’t smoking can’t afford to keep a lit cigarette in their mouths every waking moment.

Good. A nasty habit whose adherents barely deserve legitimacy. Nice thing about a totalitarian system is that something like this can be rather effective. Like when Iran and NorthKorea banned smoking in the past couple of years. Instant acceptance of the new rules. And nice, that, we could have a rabid nonsmoking mullah meet an Iranian mullah on common ground. Say in NYC.

America has made a lot of headway in demonizing smoking; there are still some holdout states, some partial bans in bars in some places, but if we start taking a page out of the Chinese method, we could get rid of those too.

We are almost on par with the Chinese; we’ve got regulation concerning tobacco use in private domiciles; rented mainly for now, but shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to get the law to apply to property owned by a smoker.

Stop the passive smoke. Save their lungs so they can breathe in the Chinese air!

The Party says smoking is bad for your health. Quit smoking or we will shoot you.

Was the ban started by a guy named Hu Qa-Bi?

From what I’ve heard about China, cigarette smoke is cleaner than the surrounding air.

Those who are accused of smoking will have their names posted on a warning list on community notice boards be euthanized inhumanely and have their organs and useful proteins harvested.

Fixed...
