US, February 21, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At the same time that news has come out that the Toronto Catholic School board has refused to participate in pro-homosexual activities, homosexual activists are making significant inroads in US schools, as a booklet titled, "Just the Facts about Sexual Orientation and Youth," is set to be distributed to all 16,000 school districts in the country.
The 24-page booklet by the National Education Association and American Psychological Association, tells students that homosexuality is a "normal expression of human sexuality".
"What's so scary and dogmatic about this report is that it communicates that religious-based viewpoints are harmful, and even dangerous," said Candi Cushman, education analyst for Focus on the Family Action.
The booklet particularly targets the idea that homosexuality is a condition that can be changed. It instructs educators, "Schools should be careful to avoid discussions of transformational ministry in their curriculum."
Brian Raum, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said that the talk of "inclusivity" in schools by homosexual groups is a veiled threat.
"What they're trying to do is create a fear factor here," he said. "There's nothing in the Constitution that would prohibit a teacher from presenting to a student all of the programs that are available, without endorsing or promoting any particular one."
The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, (NARTH) says that although "the aim of gay-affirmative counselling programs is humanitarian", the problem is that they do "much more" than discouraging scapegoating.
"In reality, they promote a particular worldview," present students with a set of "truth-claims that students are expected to adopt," and insist on conformity to these.
"These programs promote the value systems of a particular social group and denigrate the views of another, while at the same time, distorting science."

Homeschool/Education Ping
I have an ongoing argument with my wife. She says that being gay does not mean that they target children. Stuff like this only enforces my argument!
You know, we could “kill 2 birds with 1 stone here”: help the downturn in the construction business by building lots of closets to put these queers back into.
May their hell come sooner rather than later.

Any chance of constructing airtight closets? You know, just so they are draft free?
I can't imagine this will fly very well in the conservative areas and find it quite hard to believe that the Gay and Lesbian Group has the ability to put this in the hands of every student in the country.
I've been wrong before though, and I've seen weirder things, but before I get all up in arms, I'd like to know that what I'm getting upset about actually is happening.

It seems that it’s being sent to the schools as a manual for faculty.
I don’t care what someone’s sexual orientation is - not my business. But this is blatant social engineering, not education. It will not add to any student’s base of knowledge. Education is not about attitudes.

I'm so pleased (sarcasm) that that doctors and psychologist agencies are also signing off on this and will presumably be reading it and distributing the ideas to patients.
It will only go to the government schools and the free market schools that want it. So it only affects those feeding at the public trough.
People using socialized schooling and complain, are like people in government housing complaining about the location or the color of the paint. They can both always get out and stop taking the government hand out.
Homosexuals need to keep in mind, however, that the good news of the gospel is not about how God despises same-sex sexual relationships. In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that certain members of that church had been slaves to such relationships, but had been cleansed in Jesus' name. So these former homosexuals had evidently repented and accepted God's grace to straighten their lives out.

Got it. That way teachers can push the agenda without actually sending home something that will let the parents know what they’re learning.
My wife and I used to say that homeschooling was a good option for a few people. My son is in the second grade in a conservative Texas suburb. He spends more time learning about Hanukkah and Ramadan than math and reading. We confronted his teacher and she let us know that teaching math and reading was the responsibility of the parents. They only tested what they learn at home.
So at school they learn about religion, values, etc., and at home they learn to read, write, etc. Well, we’ve prepared ourselves to homeschool next year. We’re checking out of their system, even if we are still forced to pay to an organization that teaches a religion we oppose.

High-risk sex offender released into Toronto

Toronto police are warning the public after a high-risk sex offender convicted of crimes against children was released from prison on Thursday morning.
Investigators won’t say what Toronto neighbourhood 30-year-old Junior Spencer will be living in, but say police will monitor his movements closely.
Spencer was imprisoned for sexually assaulting boys between the ages of 8 and 14 between 1995 and 2005.
The Correctional Service of Canada has labelled him a high-risk to re-offend.
Police have released a current photo and two past pictures that show Spencer’s ability to change his appearance.
“If they’re an offender and they do not have access to support, people who change their appearance can gain access to children and they can make themselves look different from what they do in any photograph,” Det. Sgt. Gord Whealy, of the Sex Crimes Unit, told CTV Toronto.
“Typically, Spencer participates in grooming behaviour with the victims and their families, then exploits his position of trust to get access to the children,” states a police press release.
“He has also volunteered with agencies dealing with children, again allowing him access to children.”
Spencer is subject to a 10-year supervision order, which allows corrections officers and police to closely monitor his behaviour.
My guess is the report tells the truth that gays can become ex-gays and some of the more narrow-minded psychologists are surprised. Perhaps they should catch up with the times as the number of ex-gays has been growing for decades.

The only answer to what the public schools have become is private schooling. Then raise hell to get credits for any and all taxes paid for public schools. Finally, get rid of the Department of Education (DOpE)...

None of us get to opt out of the taxation used to propagandize these government school children. Also, “they” may also not be able to afford a private school. There is homeschooling, but that can be tough as well, especially fot the working parent. I don’t understand your lack of understanding of why this is an issue.
You'd be surprised then to have watched at least three attempts here in North Carolina, in as many months, by agencies of state government to make rules for themselves and official employee policy, trying to make an end run around the legislature.
The application to UNC Law School actually uses the word "queer" in it's Q&A. When queried, we were told the question was not required, but of course that fact was nowhere indicated on the application. Those in charge of this said it was "to communicate a more welcoming environment," which is to say, I suppose, that it would be unwelcoming not to ask potential law students explicitly if they were "queer." And on an application to an exclusive Law School? (At least UNC thinks they're exclusive.) What does this have to do with LEX REX?
