Obama on Afghanistan (claims the Taliban arms the US military!)
Flopping Aces ^ | Feb. 22, 2008 | Staff

OBAMA: You know, I’ve heard from an Army captain who was the head of a rifle platoon — supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon. Ended up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of those soldiers had been sent to Iraq.

And as a consequence, they didn’t have enough ammunition, they didn’t have enough Humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief.

First of all, and correct me if I’m wrong on this Chris (seeing as how I’ve been out for 18 years) but the military rarely splits a platoon across theaters, maybe companies but platoons? Nope…..Secondly, Captains don’t lead platoons, they lead companies. Thirdly, on the weapons thing it may very well because the AK is just a damn good desert weapon that rarely jams PLUS having a weapon that sounds like the enemies and doesn’t sound like one of our M16’s is probably a pretty good tactic. They may be grabbing the AK’s but I’m doubting its because they are not getting supplied. Fourth, if they are so underequipped how in the hell are they able to capture all these weapons in the first place? Just going up and asking the Taliban for em?

I’m gonna call shenanigans (codeword for he is lying through his teeth) on these charges by Obama.

Oh, and one last note. It’s Congress that gives the money to the Military Senator Obama….not the Commander in Chief.

Except shooting a weapon that sounds like the enemy’s weapon is a great way to get friendly fire coming your way.

I only have 16 years of experience, but I’ve never seen a platoon split up and sent to different theaters.

Somebody needs to call this POS out.

Lord help us... the man is an idiot...and so are his supporters.

Reminds me of a saying I once heard:
God must love stupid people, otherwise why did he make so many of them?
Unfortunately YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID!

On the military channel last week the host of “Weaponology” had talked about how the US Army/Marines had a new weapon being issued to them that is able to fire the same round as the AK-47. One of the reasons he stated was that if the bad guys heard anything else being popped off they would know who was coming. Cool show.

Disaster in the making if not elected president, imagine the rioting that would occur?

You know, I’ve heard from an Army captain who was the head of a rifle platoon — supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon. Ended up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of those soldiers had been sent to Iraq.

Platoon - 16 to 44 soldiers. A platoon is led by a lieutenant with an NCO as second in command, and consists of two to four squads or sections.

Unit sizes are not specific across the board. Depending on the unit type, (supply, infantry, aviation, etc...) requirements change for personnel and equipment.

And as a consequence, they didn’t have enough ammunition, they didn’t have enough Humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief.

The first part is utterly ridiculous. The amount of supplies would also be fluid, depending on the mission and need at that particular time. I suppose their "extra ammo" was in the Hummers sent to Iraq? Even if all the personnel were together, their total ammo load would be higher, but spread among more people. Therefore, they would likely be "short", but nobody ever has as much as they'd like.

He's a disaster in the making as CIC. Nothing he's said or done shows me he has the most basic understanding of military affairs. I'm not even confident he'd admit to himself he would need very good and competent advisors.

He is dumber than an onion. Could you imagine him saying this in a debate with MCCAIN? He is very inexperienced.

Let’em try it. Bush is still President, and would not put up with it. Blacks should not be allowed to always threaten riots, if they don’t get their way. Reagan NEVER tolerated it.

Did I read that correctly? Did Obama serve in the military?

Guess we'd all better get our arms ready, so we can protect our lives, our families and our property.

“Maybe....but the Air Force is fully stocked with Flight Line and Jet Wash.”

And the Navy has plenty of high tide line, but to dock properly you need some shoal line. Butterbar Obama, mind going down to the Goat Locker and asking them for six fathoms of it?

But, his handlers are smart enough to keep out of this line of debate if he faces McLame.

BHO is a dangerous man. His ignorance is only exceeded by his arrogance. And that, my friends, is a dangerous mix.
