Van driver charged with homicide in school bus crash

A Minneota woman will make her first court appearance this morning to face charges stemming from Tuesday's school bus crash in southwestern Minnesota.

At a morning briefing before the court appearance, Lyon County Attorney Richard Maes described the charges being brought against Alianiss N. Morales, 23, of Minneota:

Four counts of criminal vehicular homicide

One count of a stop-sign violation

One count of having no driver's license

The first four counts are felonies that carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

The fifth and sixth counts are misdemeanors that carry a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine or both.

Also, agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement have developed probable cause that Morales is in the country illegally and that the name she gave authorities is not her true identity, said spokesman Claude Arnold. Morales also told officials she was from Mexico.

Heartbreaking...four young lives snuffed out because of our open door policy in immigration. Of course, even if the woman was not here illegaly, it would be no less of a tragedy, but the fact remains that this alien was allowed to cross our border, somehow obtained access to a vehicle, and flagrantly disregarded our laws for operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license.

So, how soon before she gets a lawyer to sue the State of Minnestota for not having stop signs written in Spanish??? Hell, we have everything else posted in ten different languages, why stop at signs? (no pun intended)

I'm at a loss for words...and am getting angrier the more I hear about this type of news story. Our current crop of presidential candidates gives me no solace, either...the situation looks to be getting worse if any one of the so called big three get in office.

- Juan McCain - open borders enthusiast and amnesty proponent
- B Hussein Obama - as above; also believes that denying illegals driving licences is a violation of their “rights”
- Hitlery Clintoon - as above; believes that “no human being is illegal” (whatever that means)
- Mike Huckster - as above; also rented state property in AR to the Mexican govt. for $1/year so that the amigos could set up a “consulate” there to distribute fake id cards (matricula consular or some such)

Irrespective of who wins the nomination in either party or the General, illegals and criminals are going to get a free ride (no pun intended).

Speaking of signs. Our local hospitals have, on either side of the entrance doors, warnings written in Spanish and English to not bring weapons (guns and knives) into the building.

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A teenage boy passed away Monday night after being run down by a hit and run driver in St. Joseph County. It happened around 6p.m. Sunday night on M-60 near Fischer Lake Road, just northeast of Three Rivers. The 20-year old driver is in jail, after his bond was set at $750,000. Sergio Onofre is charged with Failing to Stop at the Scene of the Crash, Operating While Intoxicated, Minor In Possession of Alcohol, Driving with a Suspended License, Burglary, and Obstruction of Justice. Deputies say Onofre was westbound on M-60 when he went off the road and hit 14-year old Daniel Turner, who was walking with a friend.
