During a Democratic presidential debate in Austin, Texas, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton said they would consider suspending work site immigration raids until Congress passes an immigration overhaul which includes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Clinton said she would request such legislation in the first 100 days of her administration.
When we see whats been happening, with literally babies being left with no one to take care of them, children coming home from school, no responsible adult left, that is not the America that I know, Clinton said.
Other immigration highlights from the debate:
Clinton: We need a path to legalization, to bring the immigrants out of the shadows, give them the conditions that we expect them to meet, paying a fine for coming here illegally, trying to pay back taxes, over time, and learning English. If they had a committed a crime in our country or the country they came from, then they should be deported. But for everyone else, there must be a path to legalization.
Obama: It is absolutely critical that we tone down the rhetoric when it comes to the immigration debate, because there has been an undertone that has been ugly. Oftentimes, it has been directed at the Hispanic community. We have seen hate crimes skyrocket in the wake of the immigration debate and that is unacceptable.
Obama on the border fence: There may be areas where it makes sense to have some fencing. But for the most part, having border patrolled, surveillance, deploying effective technology, thats going to be the better approach.
I wonder if these buffoons in politics will ever have the brains to ask the illegal aliens if they are interested in a “path to citizenship.” They don’t want to be Americans! IT’S THE DOLLAR, STUPID!
All these kids could go with their parents, no b ody is separating them... when they are 18 they will still be citzens, and can petition the courts to bring their parents in legally...
Alas, with these policies, it won't be for long.
It won’t make much difference.
The states are enacting so many of these laws on their own because the Federal gov’t won’t do it.
There they go again protecting the non American illegal aliens over the voting taxpaying American citizen! Normal op for these moronic bottom dwellers. Now don’t forget to vote for Obama, he’s for CHANGE, HOPE AND UNITY! WHEN SPEAKING TO THESE LEMMING SUPPORTERS OF THE MESSIAH OF ILLINOIS please do not mix up the 3 magic word, keep them in sequence because if you do mix them up we will have thousands wandering aimlessly searching for direction.
These liberal bastards will say and do anything to anyone and/or America for the sake of SELF-EMPOWERMENT.
Marxist scum.
Instead of dragging this out, let’s just annex Mexico next January.
listen to the damn muslim hussein, “hate crimes skyrocketing”. right. where, when, how many hussein? how about crimes against Americans citizens by illegals every day hussein?
There will not be a dimes worth of difference on this issue between McCain, Obama or Clinton, whichever becomes president.
Deportations will be slowed if not stopped, and amnesty will be excelerated.
You can bet your bottom peso on it.
You know we just maybe, just maybe, we got’em. They just blew it. Both of ‘em. I think, we got ‘em.
And these statements from Obama and Hillary should be sending large numbers of voters scrambling to the Republican candidate. But, unfortunately our 35% nominee would probably agree with them completely, or at least carry it out if elected.
This is, of course, a bold faced lie.
“McLame said just as much in his debates, pulling out the totally dishonest, unrepresentative and phoney “Well, Ma’am, YOU can deport a serviceman’s mother who is illegal but I won’t” crap and totally sidestepped the issue of illegals deportations.”
What I remember is even worse than that. He used a story of an MIA whose mother was an illegal alien, probably the only such case in the five year Iraq war and McCain uses that to deflect having to address an issue important to a majority of Americans, and applies to probably 20 million illegals.
I don’t care what sort of hero some consider him, he’s a lying, dodging little weasel and will infuriate Republicans every day he might serve as president.
That’s right, AmericanInTokyo!
We’re all screwed, big-time. Our only hope—and I mean ONLY hope—is to win the House back with a slough of conservative victories in House races. A conservative-led House will keep Amnesty at bay!!
There is already a “path to citizenship”. It is just south of the border and leads to the US embassy.
Gee, I wonder if John McCain’s senior advisor on Hispanic issues, Senor Juan Hernandez, has a different take on this issue???? /sarc

Doesn’t it just want to make ya puke? To think, THIS is what is going to end up RUNNING AMERICA.....GOD HELP US. This should be a bleeding-edge lesson to America as to what happens when you do not pay attention to your own government.....
There already IS a path to citizenship for the criminal invaders: go home where you snuck in from, and get in line like the law already says.....why do we want to reward criminal behavior?
