Michelle Obamas thesis: Racial divide. Institutionalized racism.
Oh brother. Michelle Obama thesis was on racial divide.
Michelle Obama's senior year thesis at Princeton University, obtained from the campaign by Politico, shows a document written by a young woman grappling with a society in which a black Princeton alumnus might only be allowed to remain "on the periphery." Read the full thesis here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my blackness than ever before, the future Mrs. Obama wrote in her thesis introduction. I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really dont belong. Regardless of the circumstances underwhich I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second.
The thesis, titled Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community and written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, in 1985, has been the subject of much conjecture on the blogosphere and elsewhere in recent weeks, as it has been temporarily withdrawn from Princetons library until after this years presidential election in November. Some of the material has been written about previously, however, including a story last year in the Newark Star Ledger.
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.
I don't believe that she got everything handed to her. I read a piece about her parents who were very hard working blue collar type people who believed in education and made their children's education a focus of their family life. It is possible to believe that there are racist people in America without hating the country, you know. IMHO stereotyping her as a certain type of black may not help us to determine who she really is and what her husband's candidacy means for our country.
“A reader in the know informs me that Michelle Obama’s thesis ... is unavailable until Nov. 5, 2008, at the Princeton library. I wonder why.” “
Hah - I think she is a phoney and I think that Obama is a phoney.
Why is nothing available from their college days?
Apparently the graduates were happiloy integrating into mainstream society and enjoying the good life available to Princeton grads, instead of moping endlessly about their "blackness," or identifying with the deteriorating inner-city culture.
L0L A hilarious episode!
Did you read her senior thesis? Did you know she had never been proud of America in her adult life?
It was Michelle herself who said that she did not have the test scores to get into the schools she attended.
Princeton is home to the notorious Peter Singer, who advocates killing disabled newborns up to a month after birth. He is, if you can believe it, a professor of Bioethics at the university!
Princeton has fallen far, indeed.

I'm impressed with the bibliography. 8 items, of which one is an article which she couldn't find the source where it appeared for, and one has two authors' last names but no first names or initials. Obviously the Princeton Sociology Department has very rigorous standards.
One reason Princeton is censoring this document may be to keep the public from finding how junk like this is the product of an Ivy League education costing something like $45K/yr. (I don't mean that political considerations were not involved as well.)
About tired of race baiters on all sides.
About tired of black or white supremists.
About tired of Mr. or Mrs Obamma.
About tired of any group complaining of how things are so damn unfair.
Good summation.
She was there for COLOR. Apparently she never got over being black. Had she gotten over her skin color she wouldn’t be so bitter about being BLACK.
I saw that:
“Apparently the graduates were happiloy integrating into mainstream society and enjoying the good life available to Princeton grads, instead of moping endlessly about their “blackness,” or identifying with the deteriorating inner-city culture.”
They lifted themselves UP. She never did. She’s still bitter about being BLACK. Michele has “issues” with her skin color - typical racist.
Michelle Obama is a very accomplished and intelligent woman who not only achieved the classic American Dream, but also greatly exceeded it. Even though it was through Affirmative Action and Princeton’s Legacy that she was admitted to Princeton, she worked hard and accomplished what the majority of American’s, White or Black, only dream of.
Yet, she stands before audiences today with a huge chip on her shoulder imagining she is downtrodden because of her race.
She fails to see that Affirmative Action only got her in the door and the rest she worked hard to achieve herself.
Nothing in life worth having really comes easy and to want to give others an easy road sets them up for the same chip she has, not appreciating her own accomplishments because of the perception she didn’t earn them.
Sad that she can’t see the Liberalism she advocates is the chip she carries on her shoulder.
That this self-referential rant about victimization and resentment was accepted by Princeton as a “thesis” says as much about Princeton as about the suffering of Michele.
“Now why would Princeton want to temporary withdraw her thesis from the library until after the election?”
Because it exposes the lack of academic rigor at Princeton, even over 20 years ago. This was the most sophomoric, non-scholarly piece of drivel ever. I read about half of it and could’t read any more. If this is what it takes to get an Ivy League degree, it is truly sad.
M. Obama thesis ping.
~~My crystal ball sez they’ll rename the W. H. the “People’s House” soon after moving in.
Capitalizing either is incorrect. We are not talking about nations, or nationals of great nations. Even the formal names of the three main races are not capitalized in ordinary use.
