Tonight's debate pushed front and center the question of whether the Democratic Party can do what it did in 1960, nominate an inspiring young leader paired with a Washington veteran in the workings of government.
John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson persuaded voters that they could open a New Frontier with the first Catholic president in American history. This year, the Democrats can offer a ticket with two firsts.
In tone and substance, the debate in Austin suggested that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton together can restore the damage that George W. Bush has done to the American body politic and that John McCain might only prolong.
Their policy differences tonight were invisible to the naked eye, and they ended up with the kind of hearty handshake that could be repeated to seal their designation as the 2008 ticket at the Democratic convention in August.
For Obama, it would be a demonstration of his claim that he can bring people together. On her part, it would take character for Hillary Clinton to accept the vice-presidency after leading in the presidential polls for more than a year.

Excellent idea! I’d estimate having Hillary on the Obama ticket would be worth 5-7% for McCain.

The Hildabeast as VP would afford Billy boy access to the White House which would guarantee him an opportunity to do something he never did as President, a chance to hit on the First Lady.
I think there is a better chance of her being McCain’s running mate.
Its a bad idea for Obama . As a president he would have to compete with her and bubba for the nightly news.
No way. If Hildabeast is brokering a deal, it’s for the Justice Department (with the FBI), imo.
The only way that I would want Hillary as my VP would be if we could make Dueling legal again.

Anyone who would have Hillary as their VP is just too stooopid to be president.
Not a chance. Do you have any idea how many people have simply voted against her and will flip if she is on his VP list
Gee, that worked out so well for JFK. If I were Obama, I would think twice about having Hillary as my VP.
I know Obama is naive and stupid, but I didn’t think he was THAT naive and stupid.

Hillary will glady accept the VP role. The Clintons will never, EVER give up on ANY chance to return to the White House.
