I am now going to be as enthusiastic about McCain as I can possibly be

I am trying to let him represent all the maligned Vietnam Vets. This helps me hope that a back-stabber like McCain will win.

I got the same phone call. I misunderstood who was calling, and I wondered how Senator John Cornyn was going to accomplish all of that.

Some of us are resigned to vote for McCain but we don’t want the method used to install him to pop back up in 4 years and hit us in the head again.

Very true. And that should start with getting a large portion of the primaries back into the Spring and early Summer, so that Republicans have a chance to react to developments.

So many states wasted their influence this year getting into the 2/5 Super Tuesday bowl. I live in Illinois, which is one of those. The IL primary used to be in mid-March, but this year the powers that be decided that we needed to get out and vote in what is probably the worst Chicago winter in 10 years.

And because it happened at the same time as all the other larger states like California and New York, the level of involvement from national candidates was probably less than previously. All this, and now Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania are going to be king-makers.

So, how do we get the party to push back the primaries? It seems that we need more "Republican-only" primaries during the early stages, so that we don't have to thank the media and cross-overs for our eventual candidate. That way, we can select our own candidate.

And 2008 will be important for Republicans, regardless of who wins in November of this year. President McCain would be 75 years old four years from now, and the generational push would be even stronger then. That also gives people like Haley Barbour and Bobby Jindahl time to complete their normal cycles at the state level and decide it's time to move on to the White House.

Ok. Maybe the reason there was such a dramatic shift in the two days leading up to the FL primary was his perceived electability over Hillary? Remember at that time he was leading Hillary in national head to head match up.

IF being the buzz word. IF this, IF that.

It is up to Republicans, Freepers and conservatives everywhere to get their act together and support conservatives coming up the ranks in state politics. IF we can’t get these people elected we don’t have the depth of talent to choose from. Failing that, we cannot win in the future.

Quite frankly, we have basked in the Reagan historical persona too long. It’s time to get real and get current. We need to find, and support, conservatives for local positions and then help them archive state and national elections.

For McCain to come from virtually nowhere to our nominee without any conservative help is unbelieveable to me.

I know all that and you know me well enough to know that I will support McCain no matter what.

I still say I want to get to the bottom of his seeming meteoric/miraculous victory without "any" conservative help for one reason. So we don't have to go through all this again in four years.

Excellent point, and illustrates exactly why we are stuck with McCain.

This may be part of the story but I think there is much more to why Crist, who is an obvious VP hopefull got McCain religion almost overnight.
Anyway here is a start:

You find such important articles. Thanks for your research, and for posting them.

From Michael Totten:

But generally, it should come as no surprise to anyone save the most cloistered third-world fantasists, that a society which discriminates against sex, religion, ethnicity, language, nation, tribe, and family is not likely to have very progressive attitudes about race. Arab society, like many others, has a race problem. For instance, abd, or slave, is a word commonly used to refer to blacks, regardless of a man's stature, or his faith.

Haley Barbour suits me very well, too.

In TX, we have few ‘union’ teachers.

Wow! Well, you probably have pretty good schools then.

How do the rest of us get some of that?

Of course the polls are wrong as are the pols. Once the conventions are over PravdABDNC will be pumping their young Black candidate like he is the second coming of Castro. This will be as hard an election as we have seen in our lifetimes.

Issues will have nothing to do with this one. It will be about emotion and paybacks.

Pray for W and Our Troops

The picture of your gov Bob Riley certainly caught my attention. He does have an aura of Regan about him. I know nothing about him but will be looking him up and watching for more information as we go along. I must say, it is my opinion that the VP candidate has already been selected and we won’t have much to say about the choice. I could be wrong.

“Doris Goodwin discussing plagiarism.

Why should I take this show seriously?”

That reminds me. I was just watching Chris Matthew’s show and “fake ROTC letter”Dan Rather was talking about the flimsy NY Times story on McCain. “Should the Times had run with the story if there sources were weak?”

Dan of course defended the journalists.

I tried your potato salad recipe. It was really bad. The potatoes were as hard as rocks. Shouldn’t it be nuked, or something?

This is the most important election the country has ever faced.

Of course it seems we heard the same thing is 2004. Sorta reminds me of the bumper stickers the says “Just like everyone else Your special”.

I am pretty sure that the recipe left out BOILING the potators first!
