Tim Pawlenty. Hope this doesn’t mean he is on McCain’s short list for VP. Pawlenty is a fairly good Gov for Blue state Minnesota in that he has reliably vetoed every tax hike our goofy Socialist Legislature has sent him but otherwise pretty moderate. He is party to the effort to re-brand the GOP as “Democrat Lite”. He is a global warming kook and been more then willing to ram thru state funding for stadiums. He is a young version of “maverick” McCain.

McCain needs a solidly Conservative young Southerner with executive experience. Pawlenty brings nothing to the ticket. Minnesota hasn’t voted for a Republican since Nixon and it will not be going Red this year either even with Pawlenty on the ticket

Of course it does. First the drive-bys pick our nominee. Now they’ll pick his running mate. Can’t wait for them to pick the Cabinet. Wonder who the Times is considering for Secretary of State?

The best hope is that McCain selects a staunch conservative...

[Doubtful, however. McCain accused Alito of wearing his conservatism on his shirt sleeve. It would appear hypocritical for him to go with a staunch conservative.]

and that Providence would step in (soon) and allow that conservative to head the ticket.

[But alas, that is wishful thinking.]
I just don't see McCain winning in November. Not unless OBL/al-Qaeda commit a major terrorist action or release a tape just prior to the election. And that is doubtful, as they did in 04 and Kerry lost.

Obama is bringing in new voters, young voters. And his message of 'change' is resonating with those young, new voters.

McCain represents OLD. Old Washington, status quo, more of the same. And McCain has already shot himself in the foot. His frequently repeated debate position that "Washington is broken" doesn't bode well, because, McCain was in Washington about 25 years -- he helped break it, and he has done little to fix it. Add to that McCain's admission that he knows little about economics.

Prolly means that the Drive-Bys are pushing Pawlenty for the VP nomination.
