Obama/Clinton?
Posted on 02/24/2008 6:56:13 AM PST by Airwinger
Anyone think there would be any possibility of Obama asking, and (gasp) Clinton accepting a VP slot thus forming a Obama/Clinton ticket? "sheesh, that gave me the willys just typing it!!"

Yes.
She’s patient. If she has to wait eight years to become The People’s Beloved and Glorious Leader, she will.

My 2c: he wouldn’t ask, and even if he did, she wouldn’t accept.
However, look for Obama to offer high government positions of SOME sort (cabinet? UN ambassador?) to both Clintoons if (God forbid) he becomes POTUS.

No, neither of them gains by being the other’s VP. This is the
only election cycle they can win - so it’s the top spot or nothing.

OBama won't ask. First, he would have to watch his back 24/7 for four long years. Second, with Hillary you get Bill, and what president would want Billyboy mucking about his administration, out of control and unaccountable for anything? Third, Hillary is an unpleasant a-hole who nobody would want to work with if they didn't have to.

Only a suicidal fool would select Hillary as his VP.

Only if he wants another Arkancide. If Hillary does not do better real soon it could happen anyway.

Ditto... He’ll never pick her, because she lost big time in the popular vote. The only reason she’s hanging on at all is because of the few superdelagates who are still hoping for cabinet positions.

More than a year ago, Matt Drudge suggested that the 2008 Democratic ticket would be either Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton. I thought he was on to something, but now I'm not so sure.
For one thing, she doesn't bring him any states that he wouldn't win otherwise. Secondly, I think having a ticket without a white guy would be a serious impediment to winning the general election.

I think it is a mistake to select someone with immediate Presidential aspirations to be your V.P. For example I am convinced that Edwards went in the tank in 2004 to clear the way for him to run in 2008. If Kerry had won, then Edwards would have been frozen out until 2012. The question is can you do just enough to maintain your political capital while not enough to put the top of the ticket over the finish line. No way Clinton wants to wait until 2016 to try this again. 2012 and she still has a chance.
That being said I would not trust the Clintons anywhere near my Presidential campaign/administration.

We should be so lucky. Problem is, the Bent One is so prolific, he’d singlehandedly account for a 30% increase in AIDS...

If she has to wait eight years to become The Peoples Beloved and Glorious Leader, she will. This will be the last hurrah for the Clintons. Running again requires strong financial (donor) support ... they've gone to the well for the last time ... there will be no enthusiasm amongst her supporters to fund another Hillary campaign.
