Rasmussen: 2/24/08 Latest Poll Shows McCain Leading over Both Democrats

Sunday, February 24, 2008

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that John McCain continues to hold a very modest lead against both potential Democratic challengers. In a general election match-up, McCain now leads Barack Obama 46% to 44% and Hillary Clinton 48% to 44%. McCain has led both Democrats on each night of individual tracking since the controversial New York Times article on McCain was released earlier this week (see recent daily results and summary of recent state general election polls).

The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator shows Democrats with a 284 to 229 lead in the Electoral College. If “leaners” are not included, the Democrats lead 238 to 189. Since yesterday, North Carolina has shifted from Safe Republican to Likely Republican while Wisconsin has shifted from Likely Democrat to Leans Democrat. New polling has been released today for Wisconsin and New Mexico. The Balance of Power Calculator determines projections by aggregating a variety of information from many sources including polls, the Rasmussen Markets, analyst assessments and more (see summary of recent state general election polling).

I am glad that the Republicans may keep the Presidency especially with not having the house and senate. What I am worried about is Obama losing and Hillary coming back in 2012 stronger than ever. That needs to be under consideration.

“The economy will be the big issue though and McCain isn’t very clever about that.”

That is an understatement. Holy cow. Did McCain have to put it out there that the economy is not his strong suit...in public???? What was he thinking????

It’s very interesting to show you that low IQ’s are the creation of the race industry on both political spectra, not genetic.

Actually, nope. See Amy L. Wax's article, The Threat in the Air, Sunday, April 18, 2004. An excerpt:

The average incoming verbal SAT scores of the black Stanford students lagged about 40 points behind the white students in the experiment. In order to control for those academic disparities, the authors adjusted scores on the experimental tests to account for any background SAT score differences. Since the adjustment allowed them to compare students as if they were equally qualified, it's no surprise that black and white students were reported as achieving the same scores when the stereotype threat was removed.

But they did not in fact achieve the same scores. As noted by University of Minnesota psychologist Paul Sackett and his colleagues in the January issue of American Psychologist, the raw, unadjusted scores of African-American and white students in the Steele/Aronson paper actually "differed to about the degree that would be expected on the basis of differences in prior SAT scores." Although stereotype threat warnings widened the gap between black and white student scores somewhat, purging the threat did not close or even narrow the actual gap in scores on the experimental test.

Boy, you really got me on that one. I’m reeling...some anonymous poster thinks I’m not “conservative enough.”

I might just re-think my whole philosophy of life and core beliefs so that they are more aligned with being a “Gondring conservative.”

It wasn’t about what I think of you; it’s about the message that you send to the GOP. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

If the same or greater numbers of people who have voted for Obama/Clinton vote in the General....McQueeg will lose in a landslide.

Think again, Pal.

The GOP has abandoned me. At this time I plan on returning the favor in Nov.

I’m not so worried about that. A lot can happen in 4 years, and her appeal is not likely to in that period. In fact, if the democrats lose this election cycle the party will make sure Hillary is not in the running in 2012.

It’ll be offset by the nutty proposals coming from the Left. They’re already spending this week trashing NAFTA, like all this economy really needs is heavy dose of thirties style protectionism.

These are the same people who won’t build a wall to keep terrorists out, but will build one to keep imports from coming in.

It'll be interesting to see how Strickland's lackluster first years in office will impact the presidential race.

To be honest, I've pretty much given up faith in voters after that Canadian nitwit Jennifer Granholm was re-elected.

Don’t forget, it was WV’s (first ever) WV GOP Presidential Convention and the shennanigans that went on there early on Super Tuesday that knocked off Romney.

Florida (27)

Wanna bet Charlie Crist is on the short list for VP? That would be bad simply because Charlie is exactly the same sort of "conservative" that McCain claims HE is which is to say RINO or more accurately a contra-conservative.

I'm one of that 63% that has been railing against him but when faced with the infinite horror of a real RAT in the White House like Hillary and Obama, I'll vote for McCain. It will be interesting to see (assuming his veep pick is a "proper" conservative with read creds) if the talk show folks (Rush, Ann, Sean, G. Gordon and the others) will coalesce into a real substantive push in the same direction as points to the White House. If talk radio gives their blessing, I'll bet that 63% rises to something like 90%. Agreed? Or not?
