Obama Ahead of Clinton 14% in Texas, Up 8% in Ohio; McCain Comfortable
USA Election Polls ^ | Feb. 23, 2008

Decision Analyst is the first pollster to proclaim Barack Obama as the leader in either of the two big states that vote on March 4: Texas, Ohio.

Pictured to the left is Jerry Thomas, CEO of DecisionAnalyst.com.

They say that they carefully selected the demographic compositions used in their polls. Most pollsters thus far have not been fully representing the support Barack Obama gets at the polls because the demographic composition of those going out to the polls tend to be under-represented in traditional polling based on previous turnout.

According to the Democratic Texas poll by Decision Analyst:

“As the second most populous state, Texas’ delegate count is large, and an Obama win of the magnitude indicated by our survey would most likely propel Obama to the Democratic nomination,” according to Jerry W. Thomas, President/CEO of Decision Analyst. “It is still two weeks to the March 4 election, and many things can happen, but as of today, Obama has a commanding lead.”

The issues of greatest importance to those who plan to vote in the Democratic Primary are (in order of importance): making healthcare more affordable (chosen by 35%); making the economy stronger and better (chosen by 29%); bringing the troops home from Iraq (28%); leadership (ability to manage government, work with world leaders, get things done) (17%); reducing gasoline prices and the cost of energy (16%).

According to the Democratic Ohio poll by Decision Analyst:

The issues of greatest importance to those who plan to vote in the Democratic Primary are (in order of importance): providing good healthcare for everyone (chosen by 36%); bringing the troops home from Iraq (31%); making the economy stronger and better (31%); reducing unemployment, creating more job opportunities (23%); reducing gasoline prices and the cost of energy (19%); leadership (ability to manage government, work with world leaders, get things done) (18%).

According to the Republican Texas poll by Decision Analyst:

The issues of greatest importance to those who will vote in the Republican Primary are very different from the Democratic voters. The key Republican issues: protecting the U.S. from illegal immigration (39%); fighting terrorism (31%); making the economy stronger and better (29%); character (honesty, ethics, and integrity of candidate) (27%); leadership (ability to manage government, work with world leaders, get things done) (19%).

According to the Republican Ohio poll by Decision Analyst:

The issues of greatest importance to those who will vote in the Republican Primary are: fighting terrorism (31%); protecting the U.S. from illegal immigration (30%); making the economy stronger and better (29%); character (honesty, ethics, and integrity of candidate) (28%); leadership (ability to manage government, work with world leaders, get things done) (21%); reducing dependence on foreign oil (18%).

I have been remodeling the house and most of the workers are hispanic, most have been here in US for several generations. NONE Of them like Obama. One even said if Obama wins he will meet the same fate that JFK did. He was NOT threatening him, just stating what he thinks would happen.

Huckabee, shuckabee

Since Huckabee did increase the size of Government in Arkansas and raise taxes to their highest level in state history (very anti-conservative acts)what are Huckabee's qualifications to run as a conservative?

Please don't start with the 'He's a good Christian' etc. If he was such a good Christian why was he hell bent on getting as much of Ceasar's (the state government's) hand in the citizen's pocket as he possibly could?

Can anyone show me LEGISLATION he sponsored and got passed that verifies his conservative credentials? I am all about what people DO, not what they say.

Morons who plan on spewing rhetoric need not apply, I am interested in FACTS ONLY and yes, I know McCain has LOTS of non-conservative legislative ghosts in his closet. I'm not a McCain fan as it is. In fact every mind numbing idiot the GOP offered us this year was an embarrassment.

Personally I am beginning to think Obama is a worse choice than Hillary. There is something to be said for going with the evil you know vs. the one you don't.

If Hillary were elected I think it would be horrible, but at least you know what to expect. Barack is an empty suit, but do we really want to know what is lurking in there only after he takes the oath of office?

If I vote for Hillary in our open primary here in Texas, would my Freeper permit be revoked?

I know that I would have to burn my voter registration card and dispose of the ashes in a toxic waste dump.

But, I must do my part to help McCain face the most beatable candidate, right?

Your demo graphics are probably correct. Consider, tho, that Jewish & Hispanic Dems are not going to vote for the R nominee, either. If they sit it out (hihgly likely) the tide will be turned on the huge increase of the black vote.

Young liberal feminists are a very small bloc and would not be able to carry an election. Truthfully, the middle-aged feminists (they have money and networks and are a significantly larger bloc!) would be upset if the haggard and crusty Hillary beats the suave and sexy Barak.

No.
You don’t know that Barry can’t be beaten but you do know what 8 more years of the dynamic-duo will do to this country.
She will steal the election.
Count on it.

If 94% of Texans are going to vote for someone other than Ron Paul for president, I have to wonder how well he’ll do in his House re-election quest.

He has a Republican challenger in the primary.

You have one of the most appropriate names on FR.

TAKE HER OUT, REMOVE ALL DOUBT.

I don't agree. I think O.Hussein is now McCain's biggest threat in the general election. He has the looks, charisma, and has all the money he needs and is a smooth liar. I'm afraid the American sheeple will follow his empty promises like lemmings - right over the cliff.

Regardless of which Dim has a better chance come November, at the very least we should want Hitlery and Obama fighting daily all the way through the convention. I hope Monica's former boyfriend's wife sticks it out and both Dims rip each other to shreds!

All we’ve seen in the campaign season is that polls are inaccurate — VERY INACCURATE.

In Wisconsin, not one poll showed how far ahead Obama was.

I think these polls in TX and Ohio are all bogus.

He is going to sweep both states by a HUGE margin.

She will be gone on March 5th. We can XEROX her plagiarized Edwards (pre)concession speech from the Univ. Texas debate.
