When I was growing up the term "lynching party" was when the towensfolk were going to break into the jail and hang the accused prisoners with out benifit if a trial. There was no racial connotation to it at all.
Oddly, modern cowboys and modern criminals dont have the same reaction to “lynching” as do modern blacks.
