the NRA wants that, I want that and you want that.

You and I might, but there isn't any evidence that the NRA is anything but a cynical self serving organization that gives lip service to wanting to repeal gun control, but in reality is more interested in perpetuating big fat salaries for its management. I was present at several legislative hearings here in GA where the official NRA representative was a very strong advocate for background checks.

That was in the context of criminal activity.

So they only want the laws enforced for criminals? ha ha. How do you do that? And further how did the background check prevent the jerk from getting a gun that he used to murder his exwife?

For murder while committing a robbery, I would have given him four years as well, perhaps five. That seems ample time for any new exculpatory evidence (if there is any) to come forward and for him to get his affairs in order before his extermination date, that went along with his four year sentence.

...also has a murder conviction in Florida for killing someone....

Just administration of the death penalty prevents such recidivism.

I read the N.R.A.’s position as supporting laws already on the books that could keep firearms out of the hands of crimianls. The N.R.A. didn’t express support further gun legislation or infrignment of any kind on our second amendment rights.
The organization demonstrated good judgement in not pushing some cases to the appelate level that could bite us in the concealed carry.

This ignores the multiple times I've seen them in action in the state legislature testifying in favor of background checks, instant background checks, and trigger locks. They are to progun freedom lovers what the republican party is to true conservatives.
