Ickes: Blame Penn
observer.com ^

: Blame Penn by Jason Horowitz | February 28, 2008

Harold Ickes definitely doesn’t buy the argument that Mark Penn isn’t responsible for everything that has happened to the Hillary Clinton campaign.

“Mark Penn has run this campaign,” said Ickes in a brief phone interview this morning. “Besides Hillary Clinton, he is the single most responsible person for this campaign.

“Now, he has been circumscribed to some extent by Maggie Williams,” said Ickes, who then pointed out that that was only a recent development.

When asked about the assertion by one senior Clinton official the campaign was effectively run by committee, diluting Penn’s authority, Ickes was incredulous.

“I don’t know what campaign you’re talking about,” said Ickes. “I have been at meetings where he introduces himself as the campaign’s chief strategist. I’ve heard him call himself that many times, say, ‘I am the chief strategist.’”

Asked if Penn preferred the title of chief strategist to pollster, Ickes said, “Prefer it? He insists on it!”

When asked if Penn was therefore responsible for the campaign’s strategy, Ickes said, “It’s pretty plain for anyone to see that he has shaped the strategy of the campaign. He has called the shots.”

Its all about Hillary’s fatal personality flaws. Many of us knew Hillary would never become President, regardless of who she had around her.

Typical of this group. Blame everyone except Hillary Clinton who has managed to scuttle her campaign by allowing the voters to see her inadequate persona and total lack of sincerity. Kudos to her husband also.

Blame Elliot Spitzer. It all started with Hillary's! lame answer on drivers licenses for illegal aliens. That one moment gave the MSM the excuse to begin questioning her invincibility. Bill's "Jesse Jackson" comment in South Carolina was "the straw that broke the camel's back" and sealed Obama's momentum.

Ickes wouldn't be ascribing such responsibility to Penn unless he was dead certain that Clinton was toast.

And Ickes knows a lot more about how things are going than anyone in the media.

I hope Elliot Spitzer does get blamed.

He is just about the worst person currently drawing breath on earth, and definitely the most contemptible.

She’s certainly dead for 2008. The Clintons are about to become the two biggest McCain fans on the planet, albeit in the closet. If McCain wins then Hillary will have one last shot in 2012.

All of Hitlery’s old cronies, i.e. Harold Ickes, Bruce Lindsey, Paul Bergala, Maggie Williams and even Bubba thought for sure that they had cabinet posts all wrapped up in the Hitlery Clinton administration. Now they are finding out that their dreams are being torn to shreds as her base jumps ship for Barack Hussein Obama. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Seven Phases of Project Elect Hillary:

Phase 1: Uncritical acceptance.

Phase 2: Wild enthusiasm.

Phase 3: Dejected disillusionment.

Phase 4: Total confusion.

Phase 5: Search for the guilty.

Phase 6: Punishment of the innocent.

Phase 7: Promotion of nonparticipants.

I’d say they are squarely in Phase 6. (There may not be a Phase 7).

I believe your analysis is correct.

If Obama wins the general election, the Clintons will have to wait until 2016 for their next shot.

Therefore, they have a driving interest in making sure that Obama loses the general election and by enough of a margin to end his presidential aspirations for good.

Hillary will be 68 in 2016.

She looks younger now than she did in 2000, but she cannot play the Joan Rivers trick for another decade.

And who is Harold Ickies?

“The report said evidence and testimony uncovered by the committee contradicted Mr. Ickes’s statements that he had been unaware of some White House efforts to intervene on behalf of the Teamsters in a labor dispute with a California company. At the same time, Democrats were trying to enlist the union’s support for the re-election campaign.

The committee concluded in a widely publicized report issued in March that Mr. Ickes himself had asked Administration officials to help settle the dispute.”

He was also the guy behind the sleep overs and “No controoling legal authority” calls. He should be in jail.

Harold Ickes — Just one of the many disgusting people that Hillary would bring back to American government! Haven’t we all seen more than enough of those folks? I don’t think America could survive another 4 years of Ickes, Albright, Cohen, Reno, Berger, Davis, Podesta, Begala, and all the former Clintoon people, back in our faces again! At some point in the future, historians will decry the impact those villians had on our country. Everything that can be done now to end the candidacy of Hillary Clintoon should be done!

There’s also the chance that Obama wins reelection in 2012 which means there’d be a sitting VP in the drivers seat. 2020 is too late IMHO so Obama losing to McCain will be their last chance to get back in the WH. I think it’ll be interesting to see how the Clintons handle themselves. To that end it is in her interests to stay in this thing as long as possible and to damage Obama to the extent they can.

You are absolutely correct.

Her mangled response on that critical question showed that she could be vulnerable.

I'm convinced that the real reason Spitzer dropped his license plan was because the "Queen of New York" sent the message to Albany that it was undermining her campaign.

I bet she despises him right about now.

My family doctor recently told me that the average American gains about 4-pounds/year starting after about age 50. If the Hilliary-beast has to wait until 2016 and follows the 4-pounds per year trend, that means she be about 32-pounds heavier than she is now by 2016. Think about it: that’s 16-pounds more per thigh. No way will she get elected in 2016 using my math.
