A Senate committee approved Wednesday a bill that would strengthen state control over firearms regulations, despite concerns from the city of Boise.
The bill essentially reinforces current state law, which prevents local governments from regulating anyone's right to bear arms.
Speaking in favor of the bill, National Rifle Association official Brian Judy said the bill ensures the law will be the same for gun owners throughout the state.
The bill does allow cities and counties to regulate the discharge of firearms.
An earlier version of the bill was withdrawn after concerns that it would hamper colleges and universities from regulating firearms on campus and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game from regulating hunting. The current bill includes exceptions for both.
The bill now goes to the Senate floor.

This bill which was initially started to allow college students with CCW to carry on campus was basically gutted and now does nothing but reaffirm the already existing Idaho Code.
You can thank the presidents of BSU, ISU, and UofI for this crap.
Article is kinda disjointed because it stripped out my “<.SNIP.>”s. Sorry.
Liberals everywhere crying
More like cheering everywhere.
The new wording for colleges basically does the opposite that this bill was originally designed to do.
The old version made it so colleges had to follow State law as far as concealed carry goes. New version makes it so colleges can make their own restrictions regardless of State law.
New version is basically worse for CCW on campuses then if neither version was even written.
I guess I should read the article before commenting.
